Lenon "clearly" ahead of Dizon in Det. right now? (1 Viewer)

I KNOW its early and I know Dizon is a just signed rookie. But the Detroit Free Press article Monday (via Rotoworld) quoted the Def. Coordinator as saying Sunday that Lenon was the "QB of the D" and wasn't going anywhere (ie to SLB). The fact that Dizon was 3rd string MIKE wasn't surprising (again being a rookie) but it wasn't encouraging either. Most of the projections here had Dizon taking over the role either real early or Week 1.

Does this change anyones thinking here or is it just a matter of time before preseason gametime leads to this? Maybe Anthony can shed some light on the DC & this writer. I thought Lenon was pretty poor at MIKE but if he starts again he'll put up decent #'s in that scheme again (& Dizon is the one being drafted NOW)....

THANKS in advance for any thoughts guys.

An unproven DiGiorgio was ahead of Posluszny for the Bills at this time last year as well, but Poz was named the starter for week 1. I wouldn't panic yet. They clearly drafted Dizon to be the MLB and will put him in as soon as he's ready. But, Lenon is an experienced vet so it might take a little longer than most expected.

Wasn't panicking Aaron. I just know Dizon has been "questioned" far more in Detroit (reach in the 2nd, "small" etc.) than POZ ever was in Buff. last offseason. In fact most draft observers openly praised the Bills move to get POZ last year.Just looking for some feedback and I appreciate the quick response here as always. This board is unbelievable when it comes to IDP news and advice (see Carolina & KC situations this weekend).....

I think Dizon might be a bit overvalued in redraft leagues, but he's definitely going to take over the MLB job at some point. David Harris didn't enter the lineup until midseason last year and look what he did. Just need to be patient with rookie ILBs but they'll usually pay off at some point.

OK - That goes with what I was thinking during our recent redraft (TACKLE Heavy). My 5 LBs (start 3) are Tatupu, Bulluck, Brooks, Bradley & Dizon. I'm hopeful one of the "boys" at MIKE steps up somewhat for byes/upside or if Bulluck/Brooks continue their "decline". I was drafting Offense through RD 12 and confident you guys could help me find value later @ IDP (hit those spots heavy in the teen area of the draft)....THANKS as always.

I would not be too concerned with the Lion's depth chart right now. Marinelli never gives a rookie a starting job; he makes them earn it. Even Calvin Johnson was not handed a starting job as a rookie. But to me it's just a matter of when, not if. They didn't draft Dizon in round 2 to be a backup.

I also would not worry about his size. See Zach Thomas and Gary Brackett just to name two LBs who were supposedly too small to play MLB in the NFL.
