CARDS HAND PICKED THE 49ERS FOR OPENING WEEKEND

A league source tells us that the NFL threw the Arizona Cardinals a bone by asking the team to identify the opponent against which they'd most like to christen the Cards' new digs.

And the Cardinals specifically selected the San Francisco 49ers.

Why? Our guess is that the Cards regard the 49ers as the softest opponent on a schedule.

It's hard to disagree. After all, the Cardinals swept the Niners in 2005, the first two-game sweep by Arizona of any of its current division rivals.

From the 49ers' perspective, this should provide an extra level of motivation. After all, who wants to be known in NFL circles as the Arizona Cardinals' b***hes?

MOTIVATION BABY!!!! :football:

Motivation + 8 HOFers still = .500 2006 SF teamThanks for making it easy to identify those who will move on this week.

The contest is to pick the a team that has the best chance to win. Clearly the chargers are a better team and will whip the raiders. LT shines on Monday night football... Now Cards over 9ers, not a sure thing..... Clearly the cards o-line still sucks. Kind of hard to run behind a sucky line, correct? On the other hand, Gore has a decent line to run behind. I smell a big game for Gore.. :D

I wonder if Otis would take Cards over 9ers.....

That's if they somehow added 8 HOFers to their current squad...which ain't happening.I just don't know how the 49ers are gonna put up the points required to stay with Arizona without even factoring in a legitmate runner in James. All of those people could be wrong, but I doubt it this week.

I am not hyping any team. I am just making the statement that picking cards over 9ers is not a good pick in a contest. Thats all.
It is a good pick because you can only pick teams to win once. I have a great deal of confidence in 5 or 6 teams and I will select them to win against easier opponents...like the week they play the 49ers. :own3d:

Well I was wrong, you guys are still in it. But it wasn't the blowout game you guys were hoping for......

Cant be disappointed. 9ers played good game.

It doesn't matter if it was a good game, bad game, close game, blow out...

The Cardinals still won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bye:

Yup...but all of us advanced without burning a good team.
