Lets talk dynasty PPR rankings (1 Viewer)

Ok as far as DYNASTY PPR rankings go, are these un-proven rb's worth more than a sure STUD wr's?

TO 22.6

S.Smith 20.8

T.Holt 20.2

Boldin 20.0

Fitz 18.9

Chad 17.9

I see young unproven runners getting drafted over them all the time (wannabees article expalins why) But why arent these guys rated higher for dynasty ppr format, there's a case that can be made that 4 of these guys should be 1st round draft picks.

Should guys like Sjax, Brown, Bush, Caddy REALLY be rated over them, are they any better than a 2nd round rb's like Rudi, McGahee, Tiki, Westy, KJ, JJ in terms of production or even lower rated rb's like J.Lewis, FWP, T.BEll..., and especially when rb's years are SHORT and wr's stay productive for years...

I have a ppr draft coming up and am really giving some thought of doing some different drafting.

also note if your in my league and reading this im serious this time....im not using my blowing smoke tactic this time... :bag:

my top 12 ranking for PPR follows:

1) LJ

2) LT

3) SA

4) Portis

5) L.Jordan

6) P.Manning (takes some cahounas to take him in the 1st but he's worthy of it.)

7) S.Smith

8) L.Fitz (best young wr in football and getting better every year)

9) R.Bush ( i think he has way more talent than any rb left at this point)

10) C.Johnson

11) Edge

12) Caddy

yeah i know i will get called crazy but thats how i see em in a ppr.

WRs are worth more than RBs in PPR. I think Larry Fitz is the #1 player in dynasty PPR leagues. Boldin, C. Johnson, Holt, and Gates are in my top ten. I would definitely take those guys over someone like Ronnie Brown or LaMont Jordan.

The top WR may outscore most of the second tier RB, BUT their overall draft value is not as high - the PPR scoring doesn't change the necessity for the stud RB - its still about the VBD

First thing is each team only has one main RB. Every team has 2 WR. RB's will always go higher..In a ppr you have to be carefull though. Only the top 4 rbs out scored S Smith last season. Take S Jackson, will go in the first or 2nd round in a PPR. T Glenn however will go in the 5th or 6th. Did you know their point were within a few of the season..Stay away from the Non stud Rb's till later. Here are last seasons points. Let me know if the link works.

I agree with you there, but I think when you talk purely about value (about the point difference you can expect), WRs are worth more than RBs. In terms of points per game, there's a very small difference between a top RB and a top WR in PPR leagues. In most of my PPR leagues, Fitzgerald, Holt, Boldin, Owens, Smith, and C. Johnson all outscored Clinton Portis. Portis frequently goes at 1.03-1.05, whereas a guy like Boldin or Holt can be had in the late second round.

I understand that there are fewer top RBs than WRs, but I still think you're usually making a major error if you pass on top WR talent for questionable RBs. I've experienced this first hand. A few years back I drafted William Green over Randy Moss in a PPR. This past year I drafted Travis Henry (when the AZ rumors were swirling) over Torry Holt. These are some of the worst picks I've ever made, but I've learned my lesson. Don't pass on elite WRs for questionable RBs (unless that RB is Reggie Bush).

People taking guys like Cedric Benson, Reuben Droughns, and DeAngelo Williams over guys like Hines Ward are making a big mistake, IMO.

In a recent draft for a PPR dynasty league that starts 1 RB, 1 WR and 3 FLEX, Warrick Dunn went at 5.11. Eddie Kennison went at 11.03. Dunn is an old back who had a surprisingly productive 2005, averaging 13.8 points in our league. Kennison is an old WR who averaged 13.4 points in our league. Dunn only averaged .4 points more per game, but went over five rounds earlier.Since we're only required to start one RB, Dunn will likely be a flex player for his team. This means the Dunn owner spent a 5th round pick on a player value that he could've had five rounds later. It might work out, but I think he made a little bit of a mistake.

EDIT: My point is that you need to consider your league's format. RBs are gold in Zealots and Misfits leagues, but in PPR leagues that offer a lot of flexibility, I generally recommend "stud WR" are the best long-term strategy.

In one of my PPR dynasty leagues, I have Boldin, C. Johnson, and Ward as my starting WRs. I can honestly say that there are only 3-4 RBs in the entire league that I'd trade one of those guys for. You just can't beat the stability and production of a top WR in a PPR league.

Ouch.
Yea, it was pretty bad, but this is the kind of thing I see all the time. Should Ronnie Brown really be taken before Torry Holt in PPR leagues? Torry Holt is one of the best WRs to play the game in the last decade. Ronnie Brown is an untested young back with a whopping two career one hundred yard games. Sometimes a guy like Brown will turn into a Tomlinson-type player, but don't forget that there are a lot of guys like Michael Bennett, William Green, Trung Canidate, Anthony Thomas, and TJ Duckett clinging to the bottom of NFL rosters. None of those guys were top 3 picks, but they were expected to be far better than they have been and were all early dynasty picks at various points in their careers.

Totally agree - happens in our league all the time as well.

Not bad but I think in PPR ytou almost have to rank Ronnie ahead of Caddy. I'd also consider putting Westboogie in there. I also think that Edge should be above Bush, at least for this year.
