Let's Talk Penn State Football (1 Viewer)

The QB for App St is a baller.  He played a nice game.

O-line was not good.  Secondary was not good.

More Slade please.
Their RB has game as well. App is a pretty good team.

The D had a lot of trouble getting people in the right place. On O we need to develop an identity, which should probably be with a lot more running.

Some Sunday morning quarterbacking...

Franklin and staff need to realize quickly that this isn't the same offense they had last year.  There is no Hamilton/Gesicki who are going to go up and bail McSorley out on a jump ball.  Johnson looked horrible. Maybe it was a bad game.  Maybe Shorter will be that receiver.  Hamler looks like he'll be a baller.  The strength of this team, though, seems to be in the running game.  I have a feeling that if Franklin wants to highlight McSorley, it could end up not going very well for the team..

The defense only gave up three points in the first three quarters. I don't know if they were tired in the fourth quarter or if they're just not very good right now, but I suspect that it's a combination of both. Regardless, you should never give up 28 points in any quarter to any team.

I don't know why Franklin doesn't call me. Clearly I've got all the answers. At any rate, onto Pitt!

Big applause to App State, that is a damn good team.  They should've won that game but Lady Luck smiles on the Nittany Lions.  That is a New Year's Day Bowl team.

So the Offensive Line remain offensive, very sloppy.  Juwan Johnson needs a few hours at least on the jugs machine.  Loved what I saw out of Hamler, kid looks like a ST threat.

I'm going to say the defense was getting tuckered out.  Other than the final drive a lot of three and outs in the 4th qtr.  App State offense was fired up.

...but this doesn't bode well for a National Championship shot.  Things need to vastly improve on the O-Line and with the wideouts, and probably Franklin's play calling as well.

I'm not sure what game you guys were watching.  A lot of griping about the offensive side of the ball but the defense gave up a ton of points.  IIRC not a lot of short fields.

Sloppy first half but thanks to some really bonehead mistakes on Pitt special teams, PSU hanging in there. Hopefully they pull away second half.

Also, looked like Parsons was being helped on the sideline.  Looks like he got his knee rolled up from the side on the replay.  This while trying to recover a fumble up 44-6 halfway through the fourth quarter.  I'm not convinced that Franklin is always the smartest coach.

That was all about sticking it to Narduzzi

Narduzzi was making noises about PA being Pitt territory. That was Franklin showing him that this Penn State’s yard.
Franklin didn't need to stick it to anyone.  Everybody in PA, the country....hell, Narduzzi himself deep down....knows that PSU owns football in the state of Pennsylvania.

44-6 proves a point.  Having your 2nd string QB toss a 34 yard TD pass to hang 50, then chanlle getting a fumble with 1:00 left proves a different point.

I'm a Penn State fan, but I'm not sure I'm a Franklin fan.

Not much to say.  Looked good in a cakewalk.

Man, Clifford throws a pretty ball.

May be the pessimist in me, but Friday night on the road at Illinois, looking ahead to Ohio State...I feel like if there is a trap game, this is it.

Ground game looks good. Rushing defense not so much. If Sanders keeps going though, PSU should win this going away.

Yeah, Penn State is running at will.  Hopefully the defense tightens up in the second half like the Pitt game.  Right now, I'm not sure why either team would throw the ball.

This team plays like it did in 2016.
I remember at the Rose Bowl pep rally that year Franklin said he was going to use the 2nd half playbook in the first half.  Hope they do that next week!

Whole outlook of the season decided next week. I think we can beat OSU.
It’ll be an advantageous environment with the White Out, but we need to clean up a lot on defense.

  • Reid is a liability at this point.
  • Hopefully, fewer substitutions than we have been seeing.
  • Need better interior defense.  DEs and LBs running themselves out of plays.  Hopefully Givens and Windsor can continue to be disruptive.
  • If nothing else, tackling needs to be much better.

Franklin just announced he is out for the season.  Looks like the Slade and Sanders show.

Not sure what will happen Saturday night.  PSU usually plays these guys tough.  I'd be great to wash the taste of last years loss out Saturday night.

I was at that game in Columbus last year.  58 minutes of heaven followed by two minutes of hell.  Was a long drive back.

I have high confidence in our offense taking care of business Saturday night.  If our defense shows ANY improvement in any of the areas I mentioned above, I like our chances.

Watching a couple of OSU games this year and reading their message boards, they seem to have very similar issues to us in the play of their LBs and secondary.

So it seems like two relative equals squaring off with us having the advantage of a White Out home game.  Should be a good one!

Ugh.  That sucks for the kid.  Thanks guys.

Looking forward to Saturday!  Hoping that Haskins' first White Out rattles him enough to throw them off their game.

the defense needs to be there right out of the gate.  they start slow again and we're in trouble.
