Let's Talk Penn State Football (1 Viewer)

One of the seven teams ahead of us in the BCS standings just lost (Louisville).

OSU & Michigan play one another which should take care of a 2nd.

That leaves five...with a decent chance we get to play one of them ourselves (Wisconsin).
You're assuming OSU/UM loser drops past PSU...not necessarily a given.

The scenario for PSU to get in has to have 2 things. OSU beats Michigan. PSU wins out (including B1G title).

Then of course we'd have to trust that they wouldn't put a team that the Big 10 champion beat in over the Big 10 champion.

Let's say Michigan loses to OSU and drops to 6, one spot ahead of Penn State at 7. The committee does this because Michigan beat Penn State. If Penn State then beats Wisconsin for the big ten title while Michigan is idle, I think it will be hard for the committee to keep a two loss Michigan ahead of Penn State, Especially since the two teams Michigan lost to late in the year were two teams that Penn State beat.

I think it was just being funny
Actually I believe that is from the 538 website where you can select scenarios for winning games and see what the percentages are in post season according to their calculations. So the check mark means that the twitter user had already selected that PSU won the Big Ten title. So if they do that, 538 is only giving them a 51% chance to make the playoff, which isn't really that great.

That was my other guess. Can never tell on Twitter.

I think if OSU loses and we win out it will be hard to keep them above us when we beat them head to head.  Yes, they would arguably have more quality wins, but again head to head with same number of losses and us closing stronger.

Of course, that hands the division to Michigan and prevents us from playing Wisconsin in the B1G championship game.  Which probably ends any chance at the playoff unless Clemson or Washington lose again.

If OSU beats Michigan, we may or may not move ahead of Michigan before B1G championship game but I would expect us to if we won the conference.  i would think the committee would have a hard time ranking two teams that didn't win the conference ahead of one that did especially since at least one of those teams would also have two losses.

Oklahoma could also pass us if they win out.

It's all just speculation, of course.  And the playoff is still a long shot.  But a much closer long shot than any of us would have thought just a few weeks ago.

We should be happy we're even in a position to talk about this FWIW.

That Rutgers team is awful. What was that, their fifth time getting shutout?  Sheesh...and to think we complain about PSU scoring less than @ClownCausedChaos2.

It's pretty simple now...take care of business and beat Sparty. As Matt Millen mentioned last night, they won't be easy. I watched their game against OSU yesterday and they hung tough all game long (I loved the 2-point call, but not the 25 yard squib kickoff).

If Michigan beats OSU, the Suckeyes are out of the CFP picture.

If OSU beats Michigan and PSU handles the business, they're going to Indianapolis.

Either way, win-win for us.

What the hell, man?  I'd be offended if this wasn't so depressingly accurate.

Buttgers was a cake walk win, should've scored easily into the 40s/50s but drives stalled in the red zone in the first half.  Can't do that against Sparty.  Keep your eye on the prize fellas!  Sparty is the focus.  MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU

We are!

It was miserable in that game. Freezing rain and 20-30mph wind gusts. 39-0 I don't think will be frowned upon.  They took care of business.

But yes MSU. Yuuuge game.

Now we're talking!

He was about 10 feet in front of me on the PSU sideline for 2011 Nebraska.  Will be good to have one of the all-time greats back in Beaver Stadium.  I remember the sidelines that day were filled from north to south with lettermen.  Would be great to see again Saturday for our biggest game in years.

That would be sweet.  If the crowd saw some of the all time greats back on the sideline and knows OSU beats Meatchicken, that could really fire up the stadium and the team.  Love it!

I met him when he was playing for the Redskins and I was living in northern Virginia at the time. I told him my favorite play of his was when he leaped over the Illinois lineman to sack the QB. He smiled at that one. He's a good dude.

Dear Penn State,

We are OK if you win this week.  An extra week off and still making the playoffs would be fantastic.  Please don't choke.

Thanks,

Ohio State

Dear Ohio State,

I nearly choked on my own vomit rooting for you today.  Get bent.

Thanks,

THE Pennsylvania State University

Drove back from Virginia from the Brother in law's for Thanksgiving. Listened to all of OSU vs Mich. So many gut wrenching moments rooting for the buckeyes  :yucky: .

Then listened to the bend don't break first half. Now I'm home and 2 TDs. Let's do this!!

Can't speak for @ClownCausedChaos2 but I'm just looking for a trip to the Rose Bowl.
I know, you and others have stuck to this line of thinking all along. I can understand not getting hopes too high and stuff, I've been there. Too bad you lost to Pitt (maybe Clemson also losing to them helps you). From my perspective, it's falling into place for both our teams to make the final 4.

If it happens, it happens. I'm of a mind they're dogs going to Indy and that they'll have to be pretty good to get past Bucky Badger.
