Let's Talk Penn State Football (1 Viewer)

Terrible call on the kick catch interference. The ball hit him in the shoulder before he was hit. How much time are you supposed to give a guy that doesn't call fair catch?

And is it possible for our QB to STOP OVERTHROWING EVERYONE ON THE DEEP ROUTE?!?!?!
Clifford just....I don't know.  He seems jittery every game.  But, he is a sophomore who was not supposed to be the starter at the end of last year and only has 2+ games under his belt.  I've got to give the kid a chance.

If you're Pitt, you gotta go for it there, right?  A field goal still leaves you needing a TD.  Not a whole lot of time left.  We may have gotten a gift on a bad decision there.

As the father of a Pitt sophomore, I want Narduzzi fired. My money can be spent better elsewhere.

Regardless of whether we win this game, Penn State is not doing anything this year. We've got another 8-4 season ahead of us.

Maybe (MAYBE) Franklin and staff are holding back and not trying to show too much before they start the Big Ten season.  They just didn't plan well for Buffalo in the first half and Pitt this week.  That's my optimistic outlook.  There just seems to be so much speed and talent on this team OR maybe we're a year away with all of the FR/SO talent.  I don't know.

Regardless, Jordan Stout is a beast.

I hope that's what it is. This is the preseason basically. Get guys tuned up and ready to go. Week off to think will do them some good. Maryland and Purdue are very beatable. Iowa, Michigan, MSU after that is the whole season. Those 3 games will decide what we do this year.

Some dope on twitter said this was the last win before 6 straight losses. 🙄 No overreaction there, bud.

Our offense was, well, offensive yesterday.  Poor play calling + over-substitution + poor execution other than the one Cain drive is not a formula for success.  And, even then, we didn’t see Cain after that.

“Hey, let’s throw a long, low-percentage bomb on first down.  Then run right into the heart of the defense on 2nd down for no gain.  Then expose our shaky OL and jittery QB to intense pressure on 3rd down and long  Our defense should be OK with a 30-second breather”.

I know a lot of PSU fans like Franklin but I'm ready for a new coach that brings some smart creativity to the O

would love to see more Justin Shorter.  i don't know if its him or Clifford or the play-calling right now.
Clifford is often not working through his progressions.  Locking in on one side of the field (usually the one with Hamler & Dotson).

While the play calling may not be great, Clifford also often making wrong RPO reads  which isn’t helping matters.

PSU currently 130th & dead-last in time of possession so far this season @ 21:34/game.

Hopefully, Clifford can start to show some improvement as we enter B1G schedule...otherwise this could turn into a long year.

Just bumping this thread to say I hate Friday night college football games...even more so when PSU gets roped into them. :hot:

It was good to see the team respond after the week off. Purdue next week is the last cupcake. Then it gets real.

There's speed everywhere.  It's like they're an SEC team on defense.
I'm watching Auburn v Florida and I'm trying not to let the thought that we could beat both those teams in my head. But I think we can if PSU plays up to their potential.

So much speed all over the field.  The defense seems set.  No worries there.  Clifford still makes me nervous.  Like I said before: First year sophomore starter who didn't expect to be in this role at the end of last season.  Seems to have trouble throwing the deep ball and doesn't always look like he's making the right read in the read option.

Not to sound cliche, but the rest of October will tell the story of who this team is.
