Let's Talk Penn State Football (1 Viewer)

The Penn State offense has scored 30 touchdowns through five games.

Who has scored those touchdowns?

Seniors: 1
Juniors: 1
Sophomores: 18
Freshmen: 10

Get a load of this guy.

I don’t know if you’ve seen this, but some dude felt comfortable enough in his racism to SEND A LETTER to Jonathan Sullivan about his hair. SMH

Coach Franklin pretty much wasted the guy without naming him.
Saw it, hate it.  I am guessing this punk may have done this for a laugh at someone else's expense.  If this truly is a person or persons that feel this way please stop coming to games or supporting this team.  We don't want you here.

The athletic interviewed him and he doubled down saying he didn’t want the players to look like the players on FSU or Miami. Cool.

What a ####ty thing to do.  But it's just one old #######.  Time to forgot about him and leave him to his own miserable self-loathing.

I did think Franklin's statement was good and what he said about Sutherland was very touching:

The football that I know and love brings people together. It embraces differences: Black, white, brown; Catholic, Jewish or Muslim; rich or poor, rural or urban, Republican or Democrat. Long hair, short hair, no hair. They’re all in that locker room together.

Teams all over this country are the purest form of humanity that we have. We don’t judge, we embrace differences. We live, we learn, we grow, we support, and we defend each other. We’re a family.

Penn State football, Penn State University and Happy Valley provide the same opportunities to embrace one another 12 Saturdays each fall. PSU football brings people together like very few things on this planet. 110,000 fans from all different backgrounds throughout our region from all different parts of the state and they’re hugging and high-fiving and singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ together. This is my football. This is the game that I love and, most importantly, my players that I love and will defend like sons. Ultimately, this is the definition and embodiment of what ‘We Are’ is all about.

Lastly, Jonathan Sutherland is one of the most respected players in our program. He’s the ultimate example of what our program is all about. He’s a captain. He’s a Dean’s List honors student. He’s confident, he’s articulate, he’s intelligent, he’s thoughtful, he’s caring, and he’s committed. He’s got two of the most supportive parents, and I would be so blessed if my daughters would marry someone with his character and integrity one day.

I was even more impressed with the statement that Sutherland made:

Yesterday I received a letter by an alumni from the Pennsylvania State University who felt the need to share his degrading opinions in regards to my hair and what it stands for. Although the message was indeed rude, ignorant and judging, I’ve taken no personal offense to it because personally, I must respect you as a person before I respect your opinion.

At the end of the day, without an apology needed, I forgive this individual because I’m nowhere close to being perfect and I expect God to forgive me for all of the wrong I’ve done in my life. Colossians 3:13 states, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

I appreciate everyone who has reached out to me and showed their support. Let this be one of the many examples to us that in the year 2019, people of different cultures, religions and ethnicities are still being discriminated against and it needs to stop. Don’t be scared to be different!!

Dude is going to be shocked - SHOCKED! - to find out that his alma mater once refused to play a game because the black players were going to be treated differently than the white players.

That's just friggin sad.  I know cultural norms have changed quite a bit from the baby boomer era so this individual thinks he is in the right but man that is not how things go anymore sir.

Big game tonight.  We’ve been kind of off the national radar since the OSU game last year.  Tonight can change that and set up an even bigger stage next week.

For The Glory!

I’m sort of cautiously optimistic about tonight. I know I shouldn’t be going to Iowa at night but I feel like this D is really coming together.

6-0 for only the 4th time this century (2005, 2008, 2017).

Michigan was also the 7th game in both 2005 (the Manningham extra time/play game) and 2017 (W).

I think we're better than Michigan. We should win this game at home with the white out.

Michigan State is falling apart and we should win with our defense.

That Minnesota game all of a sudden is really tough. In MN vs a probably 8-0 team by then. That's the last real challenge before OSU.

These next 3 weeks determine how our season will go.

John O'Neill has had a history of BS calls against PSU.  They missed a roughing the kicker call, roughing the passer, several blatant holding calls on Iowa.  Describing them as an Abomination is being too kind.  I really hope they won't be reffing this weekend.  They may not make it out of Beaver stadium alive if they are.

Supposedly he did the Nebraska game right after the Sandusky scandal broke and told one of our players that the team was lucky to even be playing that week. Lots of controversial calls by him against PSU over the years.

Pathetic that he is still allowed to ref in Division 1 College ball.

Big time game today! Another ranked opponent. Another chance to show PSU is playoff worthy.
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord!

Will be in my seats in EJ in plenty of time to soak in the entire spectacle that is the White Out.  Will probably make my way down to Gameday in a bit to hear Desmond Howard pick against us and be met with a chorus of boos.

My dad and I had seats in EJ for from my age 6-16. Noting better than when the next section over had opposing fans.

Howard is the worst on that show.

As with Iowa, cautiously optimistic.

hopefully we have a better game plan for our opening offensive series tonight though.
