Let's Talk Penn State Football (3 Viewers)

I spent the weekend in the woods and missed the game... but I left on Friday and I witnessed MILES upon MILES of backed up traffic on I-81 north of 322.  I have to imagine traffic was that bad all the way to Happy Valley.

P.S. a friend of mine who went with his family did not get home until 4am.  Bananas.
My wife had won tickets to the game.  Our boys (8 & 6) could have stayed at Grandpa's overnight, but after considering that we'd have gotten home around 4 AM, then would have had to entertain two rambunctious boys on Sunday and go to work on Monday, we turned the tickets down.  Never would have imagined turning down free White Out tickets, but it would have killed us.

Weekend at Grandpa’s down?

It's not like we don't have 4 RBs that can all be feature backs for any team.
Yeah, I don't get it.  I just can't be 100% sold on Franklin.  No matter the turnout of the game, there always seems to be a handful of bad decisions that seem so obvious.

On the other hand, he's coaching the #6 (maybe 5 after this week) team in the country and I'm sitting in my house complaining to you clowns.

Yea as much as I get on Franklin for the big game hiccups, he has consistently had this team in contention every year since he's been here. Huge game in 2 weeks. Great time for the bye.

Hoping that they don't look past Minnesota to OSU.  It's hard to tell how good Minnesota is, though.  They haven't played anyone.

What’s scary is that if we beat the Gophers and Hoosiers, we roll into the Shoe at 10-0. Giggity.
It will be the game of the year. For the regular season. And all that's at stake is a B1G East Division lead and trip to the B1G title game to play the gophers.

Also no way they're looking past Minnesota. They have Indiana in between Minn and OSU. That one I worry about a bit.

PSU moves up to 5 in the latest poll. In addition, the cast of Championship Drive had them at 5. They said the Nittany Lions have their chance with Minny and OSU coming up.

I saw that Minnesota is trying to get Gameday to come during LSU-Alabama week.  Not sure is Minnesota is kidding, or....
Gopher fan (for PSU fan) checking in.

Sadly they are serious.  What is funny is that there are two topics making the rounds for Gopher football this week.  One is the push to get Gameday.  The other is the hardcore fans mad at the lack of support for the team (pictures of the sparsely populated upper deck during games at a relatively small stadium tweeted out).

It might make sense for Gameday to come if the Gophers were one of those programs that had amazing fan support even during a 7 decade drought of dominance, but this isn't one.  There are just too many sports in the Twin Cities for the people here to be die hard about teams that sustain losing over long periods of time.  Hence, why Gameday should not reward this program (that, and I see PSU destroying the untested Gophers, though stranger things have happened).

Hope you're right, they make me nervous.  Even if their opponents haven't been good they have beaten them convincingly.

Haven't watched any PSU football this year, but if they can generate a pass rush or cover, they'll be OK.  The Gophers look like they can run on anyone, but they've been beating nobodies.  Our QB is horrible, and is only starting because the guy who is better is injured.  He's a "gamer" which means to me, smoke and mirrors to this point.  i hope I'm wrong.

I don't have the ranks or stats but I have thought the PSU Run D has been pretty good this year.

The point I meant to make, but failed at, was regardless of wether or not MN can run the ball, you have to make plays in the passing game to win games like this.  I don't see MN doing that consistently enough to keep pace.  We have three good receivers, but the QB is another story.

How's your Oline? Because PSU defense has been pretty good about getting to the QB.

Still going to be a tough game on the road for the Nitts. Thinking an Iowa grind it out game. I'd imagine fans will show up for a B1G battle.

The Oline is huge (I think the RT is 6'8" and over 400 lbs), but I think they are better run blockers than pass blockers.

Outside of the Vikes, Minnesota doesn’t seem like football territory to me. IMO, it’s all about hockey at all levels and maybe wrestling as I know pro wrestlers Shelton Benjamin and Brock Lesnar competed there.
