List of worst things ever purchased at a wholesale club (1 Viewer)

right now I have a personal tie for first place.

1a. A case of Skittles.

1b. 3 lbs of guacamole.

I have a sweet tooth, a wife with the same and a 7 year old in my household. It is absolutely impossible to consume 36 full size packs of skittles in less than 6 months. Bought them back in February still have 8 left.

3 bleeping pounds of guacamole. 3 lbs. even if you had a party of 50 over you can't eat 3lbs. You could run a chipotle for a week with 3 lbs of guacamole.

I read in Fortune Magazine that Big Food is dealing with a multi-billion dollar problem right now in that consumers are shifting away from processed foods in favor of fresh and organic. As a country we are actually eating a lot more guacamole than we did 5-10 years ago.

Just don't touch the garbage can.

Challenge accepted! In college, back in 96, I got a case of PowerBars from Sam's. I think it was banana flavor or whatever the original was. I did finish the case but it took me all year. I haven't bought a regular PowerBar since.

I think I once got the floor size fruity pebbles in college from sams. I think it could have fed a.village. I think the total weight was 40lbs.

The one item that stands out for me from Sam's club was a box of frozen quesadillas. They were awful. Bad taste and the chicken had a lot of gristle. I tried to eat them but after a few months I threw away at least half of them.

Be honest. Are you in ISIS or something? I'm fairly sure I could knock back 36 packs of Skittles in six months with lots of room left over.

This is a good one. 100 rolls of paper towels I get. 40 lbs (or however big they really are) is ridiculous. We still got a bunch of rasin bran left over from a few months back... Should just toss it.

Coca-Cola cases. It always tastes weird or off. Not sure why, but I have to get it elsewhere.
But at least "a case is a case" and it's a fairly standard size for some families.

That said they must order soda by the mega pallet. I could see how it would get stale.

Oh come on. I love Skittles. Packs 1-10 over a few month span are wonderful. Packs 11-20 are a reason to vomit and have your teeth fall out.

36 packs of Skittles wouldn't last a month in my house.

The Costco we went to had Mexican Coca Cola - much sweeter made with cane sugarhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Coke
It's usually more expensive and in glass bottles. I prefer it but really haven't been drinking coke for a while.

I know a family that bought a sack of lemons. They ended up making lemonade every day for a week and still didn't finish them.

I was on a smoothie kick and started adding oats to my smoothies. So naturally I went to Sams and bought a 10lb container of Quaker Oats. I made a smoothie every morning for about 3 weeks before I got lazy and stopped making them. I didnt even put a dent in that damn thing. It sat in my pantry for ~6 months unused and still 95% full before my wife threw it out.

People still shop at these places? You can get pretty much everything at Amazon for the same price or cheaper and its shipped right to your door for free with Prime. No need to dirty yourself by interacting with the mouth-breathers at these places.

I got a 100 pack of CDR's in like....2006. My thinking was that I could burn a lot of CD's for music. A few months later I got an iPod...I was cleaning out a box the other weekend and found, oh, about 97 CDR's that went straight in the trash.

I don't think you get what these 'wholesale clubs' were originally designed to accommodate... Not every business is setup like McDonalds...

It's only six bags per month....

I bought a silk shirt at Sams when I was thirteen years old.
The next question is "how old are you now?"

...because there was a point for some of us where silk shirts were cool for 13 year-old's. If you're like 24 now, That's a much bigger deal than if you're in your late 30's.

My daughter once told my wife that she liked swedish fish. So my wife bough an elephant-sized box that my daughter ate exactly one half of one package out of 24. The other 23 bags were pitched 2 years later.

Swedish fish would stand even less of a chance than the skittles in my neck of the woods.

In contrast to the spirit of this thread, not a bad place to buy socks, underwear and plain white T-shirts.

Do people actually save money going to places like Costco and Sams Club (aside from Costco gas). I've always wondered if the deals on things like paper towels and toilet paper are any better than Target or Walmart. Also, I notice that I end up eating more buying things at Costco. Sure, they might be less cost per unit, but I consume more, so not sure what I am saving if anything.

Worst things ever purchased at a Lakers game? Depending on your perspective, the 2002 playoff series against the Kings might be the answer.

No you can't
