List of worst things ever purchased at a wholesale club (1 Viewer)

Worst things ever purchased at a Lakers game? Depending on your perspective, the 2002 playoff series against the Kings might be the answer.
What do the Lakers have to do with this thread?

why?
Self-promotion to make himself seem rich for buying a case of Skittles at a Lakers game?

Coca-Cola cases. It always tastes weird or off. Not sure why, but I have to get it elsewhere.
But at least "a case is a case" and it's a fairly standard size for some families. That said they must order soda by the mega pallet. I could see how it would get stale.
Does soda go stale?

Does soda last longer on the floor at Sam's than most grocery or mega stores?
I drove a forklift oovernight at a Sam's Club in the 90's in the food section of the store. They order many pallets of Coke/Pepsi at a time and would get at least one shipment of multiple pallets every week. Most of the pallets of the popular soda would be out the door within 2 weeks. We would get smaller vending machine operators that would pick up a full pallet or half pallet at a time. Maybe 2 or 3 non-generic slowish sellers like Mello-Yello may have been ordered as only one pallet and stayed on the floor for a month and a half. Or the generic stuff they had didn't clear out quickly. Never noticed an odd flavor to the pop.

No need to dirty yourself by interacting with the mouth-breathers at these places.
Probably an apt description of the clientele of a Sam's Club. I enjoy going to Costco though.
Costco is to Sam's Club what Target is to Wal-Mart
I suspected this, but I've never actually been to a Sam's Club. And I avoid Walmart like the plague.
I wish I could say the same.

With the quality standards these "operationally excellent" firms employ, I doubt they invest inventory space on things that don't turn over pretty quickly. I think that is why Costco offers only one brand or one type of a lot of stuff - they offer a single, high quality good and you buy what they offer you in bulk. I know that stores and WalMart and HEB (a grocery store in this area) don't keep soda "warehoused" in their inventory. It takes up space and therefore does not add value to the operation. They let the soda companies warehouse the stuff and replenish daily using the digital point of sale inventory systems. I don't see how soda could get old. Maybe in bottles, but especially not if it were canned.

Be honest. Are you in ISIS or something? I'm fairly sure I could knock back 36 packs of Skittles in six months with lots of room left over.
Wouldn't last 3 weeks at our house and only 2 kids.

Do people actually save money going to places like Costco and Sams Club (aside from Costco gas). I've always wondered if the deals on things like paper towels and toilet paper are any better than Target or Walmart. Also, I notice that I end up eating more buying things at Costco. Sure, they might be less cost per unit, but I consume more, so not sure what I am saving if anything.
You have to shop around, it's just like anything else.

I don't think I saved as much at Sam's because the value wasn't there and their product selection was horrible. At Costco, I probably paid for my annual membership in savings on dog food alone on my last visit.

The Costco we went to had Mexican Coca Cola - much sweeter made with cane sugarhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Coke
It's usually more expensive and in glass bottles. I prefer it but really haven't been drinking coke for a while.

I know a family that bought a sack of lemons. They ended up making lemonade every day for a week and still didn't finish them.
The sack of lemons at Sam's is like 12 lemons. I suspect that family is full of ####.

right now I have a personal tie for first place.

1a. A case of Skittles.

1b. 3 lbs of guacamole.

I have a sweet tooth, a wife with the same and a 7 year old in my household. It is absolutely impossible to consume 36 full size packs of skittles in less than 6 months. Bought them back in February still have 8 left.

3 bleeping pounds of guacamole. 3 lbs. even if you had a party of 50 over you can't eat 3lbs. You could run a chipotle for a week with 3 lbs of guacamole.
Who buys pre-made guacamole?

Why not just buy the always pretty far from over-ripening bag of 5-6 avocados and make quacamole as needed (provided you don't need it that day)?
