I hope so because that's who I'm startin'LJ and Addai on the same team will crush alot of leagues this year.
I have that in 1 league. In a start up dynasty league I traded up to get the #1 pick and took LJ (could of had LT but oh well). Then I took Addai in round 4 assuming what we know today, that he is the man in Indy. I'm looking forward to this season.LJ and Addai on the same team will crush alot of leagues this year.
I'd be hesitant to label Maroney more injury prone than Addai. Coming out of college though, Addai was the one who had to answer questions about his durability, not Maroney so much.Plus, Maroney missed just 2 games so it's not as if he ever became a giant hole in ones line-up last year. They are both unquestionably the main RB's with their respective teams, but Maroney did not lose his stud LT over the off-season. I'd say it's a toos-up with Maroney being perhaps the better option because the Colts are prone to go nuts pumping Peyton's passing TD numbers. Last year Maroney/Dillon combined for 20 TD's.As to the question at hand, I would take LJ, Addai and then Maroney. Maroney is a nice back but he has already shown he is an injury risk. Now the concern is that he might not be the goalline back in an effort to protect his shoulder. You think defenses are going to takle him hard on his shoulder?![]()
Maroney has already missed 2 games and is still injured. If I owned him I'd be worried about his durability. RB's get injured all the time so counting on him is far from being a safe pick. So far he hasn't demonstrated he can stay healthy enough to count on him as a RB1. Addai has proven his value IMO.I'd be hesitant to label Maroney more injury prone than Addai. Mannings comments, IMO, carry a lot of weight. I'm actually bumping Addai up to #5 just above Westbrook now on my draft sheets (injury concern and CBuck/Hunt taking goal line work). I have Maroney several spots further down.I like Addai simply because Manning has mentioned specifically that Addai will be the man for the Colts this year. He mentioned goal line carries and 3rd down work as well as regular duties. (You may already have seen Joes update with this info though)
http://www.kffl.com/article.php/47756/160- this is from a scouting report prior to Addai being drafted. I focus more on the "hasn't carried the load" and nagging injuries part.Addai has never had to carry the load of an offense. Many think he only saw such extensive action this past year because running back Alley Broussard suffered a season-ending knee injury before the season started. While he proved he could be a feature running back in his senior year, he was also sharing the load with Vincent. While he can run in between the tackles, he is not a bruiser.Maroney has already missed 2 games and is still injured. If I owned him I'd be worried about his durability. Just pointing out something that's a possibility. That's why I said "might" not be. Feel free to dismiss it if you're not buying that. Have the patriots come out and said this? Or are you just basing this off of one reporter's speculation?

Nothing wrong with scouting them coming out of college but we have more up to date knowlege now that far out weighs what they did in college. At least that's what I go by. But if you prefer to rely on 2+ year old data then fell free. IMHO-what they've done in the NFL is far more important to me than old college information. Not dismissing it just saying that we're 2 years removed from that data.As for Maroney, based on what we know, he is in fact a higher risk because he is injured and was so last year. That information is far more important to me darfting today than what happened to either of these guys in '04 and '05. Addai has deomstrated he's good to go. Maroney has not. From my perspective, if I'm making a decision today, Addai is the safer pick.http://www.kffl.com/article.php/47756/160 - this is from a scouting report prior to Addai being drafted. Addai has a history of nagging injuries including an ankle injury that aggravated him for the final month of his senior season. A sprained medial lateral ligament in his left knee hampered him in 2003, and he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in high school as well as again in 2001.
If you want to debate on both issues, I can counter with:
1) Addai carried the ball a total of 490 times at LSU. In his last 2 years at MIN, Maroney totaled 498 carries. Last year, there was about a 50 carry differential between them, but at the end of the day - they are both 2nd year players so basing 'safeness' on one season and one injury might mislead you into an incorrect assumption.
2) I think durability can't be measured in a game missed here or there. Maroney missed two games, but finished the season and was quite effective in the final 2 regular seaosn games after he missed time. He's been under the knife and should be considered 100%, just like Addai was evidently after the 2005 season.
