My draft is this weekend and I have the #3 pick. Looking at LJ, but haven't heard anything since Monday when it sounded like there was some progress. Does anyone have any updates out of K.C?

mortensen just said they are now $6mil apart (down from 14) in guaranteed money. thinks they'll get it together next week.
On one of the preseason games this week they kept scrolling that they were very close to a deal but that has been a few days. I have no idea here. The longer it goes the more I worry the guy will injure something in the regular season because he won't be in shape. I fully expect him to the starter in week 1, but the longer he holds out the more likely I think he will miss games due to injury....

somehow i don't think he's sitting on the sofa playing madden 08 while this is going on...

Kige Ramsey says he is in camp.
this guy lists the top 5 fantasy RB's as follows:1 LT

2 LJ

3 Shawn Alexander

4 Bush

5 MBIII

Stephen Jackson gets no love and this YouTube dork gets no respect.

Funniest part is at the end where he makes it sound like he's the official sports reporter for "YouTube Sports".
I want to play in the league/s where Reggie Bush and MBIII go ahead of Steven Jackson. Hell, I'd take Jones-Drew over Bush(if I'm going to take a back that is in a RBBC situation i'd prefer that it be the one who actually got off last year). Barber is good but no way he's top 5 material.

they are still very far apart. dont count on him practicing during the preseason.

i spy an injury!!!

If I am LJ I am not exactly chomping at the bit to go out and play with that offensive unit. He might get 500 carries this year against teams that put 9 in the box each down.

I dunno, I'm not sure there's enough evidence to support the claim that a guy who holds out , gets hurt..I mean, Emmitt held out years back , missing two reg season games. went on to have one of the best-ever seasons by a RB. I'm not convinced holding out leads to injuries esp. when dealing with veterans...

I agree. I mean they showed LJ training offsite on that ESPN Chiefs training camp series. The guy is in shape. Most of these skill position guys don't slack anymore in the offseason. There's too much at stake now. He might not be in top form, but I bet he's close.

How in the world could you tell that "the guy is in shape"? Because ESPN showed a blurb on him and he looked like his body always does? Or was he running?!

HBO showed the blurb, get it right.

stop it. a real shark knows that predicting season ending top 5 <> where he'd draft them. :lmao:

kige is the man.

Larry JohnsonAug 16 09:11p

During an interview with ESPN, Kansas City Chiefs team president, general manager and CEO Carl Peterson said no contract extension with RB Larry Johnson is imminent.

The blurb they showed on "Hard Knocks" was from him working out at API (Athlete Performance Institute) in AZ, and it showed him squatting and doing conditioning drills with Brady Quinn (before he signed). I guarantee you if he is working out at API, he isn't slacking!

Could be PR, could have been for a couple weeks, could have been a number of things. You know they have to look good in the midst of wanting more dough. Hey, he can go do 10,000 sit-ups in his driveway for all I care. Bottom line, it ain't training camp.

He'll show up when he wants to show up(most likely just before the start of the season). If you're a veteran and you're smart, you avoid camp like the plaque. That's all this is. Sure, he wants the cash, but the deal he gets tomorrow is not going to differ all that much from the one he was offered yesterday. It's all about not going to camp.

These guys work out year round. Camp just isn't that big of a deal for them.

Well then, that is news to me. Seems strange to holdout because you dont want to practive with your team :fishing: Aside from being a smartass, apparently you dont know LJ's work ethic. The guy is a ferocious competitor. He wants to be playing. It's about the money and the chance of getting hurt. It ha nothing to do with him not wanting to practice. It's not like we're dealing with TO or Moss here....-thehornet
