PFT picked this up from Michael Lombardi today: "There is some concern Colts safety Bob Sanders might never be able to play football again, with his shoulder and bicep issues. He reduced his contract, but his rehab has been slow."

Is it time to cut him loose?

If it's true, why was it just thrown in at the end of the notes sections? "...and Eddie Kennison signs a deal to retire with the Chiefs. Oh by the way, a former defensive player of the year might never play football again." Seems kinda under-reported to me.

This has since been disproven.

" The Indianapolis Colts are denying an NFL.com report that stated safety Bob Sanders might not play football again due to recurring issues with his shoulder and biceps.

"Nothing has changed since June," a Colts spokesman told the Indianapolis Star.

Sanders missed all but two games last season due to biceps and knee issues.

"There is some concern Colts safety Bob Sanders might never be able to play football again, with his shoulder and bicep issues," the NFL.com report stated. "He reduced his contract, but his rehab has been slow."

Sanders is due a $2.275 million base salary in 2010 as well as $5.5 million in 2011 and $7 million in 2012, according to NFL Players Association records.

Sanders' agent, Tom Condon, denied that the deal has been changed or that Sanders has any new health issues."
