Looking for help with keepers (1 Viewer)

I'm new to this site, and unsure how all of it works.

I am in a 12 team standard keeper league. The way this league works is kind of hard to explain, but I will try. We started this league around six years ago and it continues every year. It's a $50 buy in league, while not high stakes its still $50. Each team has the option to keep one to two players from the previous season. If a team keeps one player then it is that teams first round selection, keep two and its the teams first and second round selections. Rookies come in as free players. Truly the only two players that I can possibly see my team keeping are Gurley and L.Miller. However, I am not sold on either of those two even in the second round this season after a disappointing year.

Should I just go into the draft in August without keeping anyone and letting Gurley and Miller go free, or keep one or both?

Thank you,

12th

Do you know your draft position for the upcoming draft yet?  I think this would be helpful to know in making the decision.  It would let you know your chances of who might get a pick ahead of you in the first and/or second round if you have them.

As it stands, I would not keep either of these two and let the chips fall where they may.  If everyone else keeps at least one, then you get your pick of everything that's left, and if the best that is left turns out to be Gurley or Miller, then you can just pick them at that spot.  Chances are they will be there for you to pick even if a few others don't keep anyone.

Good luck.

At best, Gurley and Miller are second rounders, so I would just throw them both back and roll the dice.  The odds are some stacked team will have to throw back a player better than Gurley or Miller.  Knowing your draft position matters a lot.

As others said, draft position in the 1st is a big factor.

Would also be curious if it's PPR or standard scoring.

So for example, if it's standard scoring and you would be picking later in the 1st, I could see maybe keeping Gurley.

Sorry guys, I should have stated that I wont know my draft spot until one week before draft day arrives, but after keepers are locked. It is also a standard league not ppr.

Given the information we have here, I say keep no one. Even if you pick 12th, you still wouldn't be picking 12th because everyone that has a keeper would be sacrificing their first round pick. It's an easy decision for me.

when do you have to announce your keepers? you'll know better what's out there in terms of 1st/2nd round talent or not.

Throw them back to the pool - worst case scenario you would likely have the opportunity to pick one back up at your pick.

I feel pretty comfortable saying worst case scenario you let hem both go, and end up drafting them back. No reason to keep them at all.

We lock in our keepers one week prior to the draft if we so choose depending on the teams choice, and then after we have all locked in our keepers we then randomize the draft order. I think I know what I will have to do, probably just wait and see what happens during the draft. I wont keep anyone and whatever falls to me will be what I do. I will have a tough call between Gurley and Fournette though if push comes to shove and I have to pick between those two in the first.
