That should get the Broncos attention
Yeah, I think this was a shot across the bow at Denver more than Carolina. Telling Denver to bring their A game on an offer to pry him away from his beloved Panthers. Notice that he said he loves the Panthers, but they have to
make him an offer he can't refuse. It's not about love for anything but the Benjamin's.
This is the second post where I have read the bolded, but nowhere in the original story does it state this...
Hmmmm, the reporter makes the statement, doesn't directly quote DWill saying it, but then DWill pretty much says it too in direct quotes:

CHARLOTTE – Free agent running back DeAngelo Williams said Monday night he hopes the Carolina Panthers will
make him an offer he can’t refuse so he can one day retire as a lifelong Panther.
That's the reporter reading between the lines of what he says down here:
Appearing on video chat with fans on Livestream on the eve of free agency, Williams told listeners that he’ll meet with general manager Marty Hurney on Tuesday at Bank of America Stadium to discuss his future.
The Panthers can begin talking to free agents Tuesday but can’t sign anyone until Friday under new league rules established Monday.
“I honestly and truly want to stay a Carolina Panther and they’re doing their part of keep me a Carolina Panther,” Williams said. “So I’m very excited about that. Carolina gets the first stab at me. If everything looks great, then why entertain other offers? So that’s where we stand right now.
IF everything looks great. Every time he mentions wanting to be a panther, he also mentions money.
“There are possibly a few other teams I don’t know about right now, but I’m pretty excited about where we are going as far as me and the Panthers. Wish me luck. I’m going in (to the stadium) as a Panther and I want to stay a Panther. I want to retire as Panther. But at the end of the day it’s a business.”
He wants to be a panther, but it's business. Every single time he says he wants to stay in carolina he also mentions money, that's not a guy like Joe Mauer promising to stay on the small market team no matter what. That's a guy sugar coating the following statement

ay me enough and I'll retire here. Don't pay me enough and I'll retire someplace else. It's business.
