Lots of college football stats (1 Viewer)

In addition to being a staffer here, I also run a site called pro-football-reference.com. It's got a lot of moldy old football stats.

Anyway, I just added a bunch of college stats.

All players who debuted in 2001 or later and went to a Division IA college now have their college stats right there on their p-f-r pages. Check out Roy Williams, for example. On his page, you'll now see his complete college numbers. They look like this:

+------------------------+----+--------------------+-------------+-------------+| YR Team | G | CMP ATT PYD TD IN | RSH YD TD | REC YD TD |+------------------------+----+--------------------+-------------+-------------+| 2000 Texas | 10 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 2 75 2 | 40 809 8 || 2001 Texas | 12 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 5 47 0 | 67 836 7 || 2002 Texas | 12 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 5 85 1 | 64 1142 12 || 2003 Texas | 13 | 1 1 56 0 0 | 4 36 0 | 70 1079 9 |+------------------------+----+--------------------+-------------+-------------+If you click on a games played number (like the 12 after 2002), it will take you to his game logs for that season, so you can see that Roy ended the 2002 season with five straight 100-yard games. If you click on the team (like 2001 Texas), it will take you to the full stats for that team, so you can see what Major Applewhite's numbers looked like before Chris Simms was given his job. I'm not sure how far I'm going to go with this, but one thing I know I'm going to add soon is week-by-week game scores to the team pages. Getting complete college statistics pre-2000 is going to be very unlikely, but I will continue to work to add what I can to this section.

Please be aware that that this is all very beta, but here is a good starting point if you want to poke around.

Enjoy.

Awesome, Doug! I love perusing old college stats of current NFL players for fun and this makes it even easier.

Holy Crap!

That is freaking awesome.

ETA

As you make updates and changes it would be a nice feature to have the sum of the various columns at the bottom so we can see a guys college totals. Also, would be nice to see completion percentage for quarterbacks.

Nitpicky stuff. My initial reaction is still the most appropriate.

Holy Crap!

Doug,

I use your site very frequently. I feel as if your site would be a lot better if you included teams' turnovers forced and turnovers allowed. You show interceptions allowed and forced but not fumbles or total turnovers. Quite frequently I'll be using your site to help me with some stats on a team, and I'll have to go elsewhere to find turnovers. Its just my opinion, but thats the one thing that I would add next if I were you. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Doug - great work, as usual.

Folks - Doug doesn't make a habit of asking for contributions but allow me to chime in. If you use his site and value what he does, consider donating. If donating doesn't appeal to you, consider sponsoring a player. I know I'd be lost without PFR!

You know sponsoring a player or a team is a great way of supporting DD and you can use it to advertise your own website as well.

For those of you that like sig bets, why not bet a DD sponsor instead.

Like betting the Saints Fan that if they actually do beat Philly this week you'll sponsor the 2006 Philly page saying that they were owned by the Saints this year and you officially don't know what your talking about.

A lot of these pages only cost 5 bucks to sponsor and you could then keep your sig for what it was intended for...

offending other people.

awesome stuff adding the college stats.

just another request to throw on the pile: It would be cool if you had info on the # of times a QB was sacked.
