I got this off a Charger board.....

things covered:

1) LT said he'd give the shirt off his back for all of the guys on the team and that even after football he'd do anything for the guys on the team

2)Then he said "I think that's why Kris (Dielman) decided to stay cuz it's not always about money you know...." then he talked about the Chargers locker room is different than your average NFL locker room that everyone is like brothers in there.

3) They asked him if he was over the Pats lost and he said he's JUST NOW getting over it being that he sees a new opportunity in front of us.

4) They asked him what he thought of the AFC West and he said it's always a tough division and said we're gonna see Oakland improved greatly. He spoke highly of Jamarcus Russell and said Oaklands D is gonna be elite. (He's right whether we wanna believe it or not) Then he said Denver is always changing and always good and always a challenge, when he got to Kansas City he was like "You know..... Herman Edwards is a good coach....." LOL it was like he kinda stumbled and was at a loss for words when he got to KC. That made me chuckle.

5) Then they asked him about being the #1 fantasy player and he said it was an honor and that there are a lot of good fantasy RB's other than him. They asked him who and he said definately Larry Johnson, he said Gore is looking really good, then he said Tiki Barber was always one of his favorites even in retirement.

The thing that actually got me really excited is when they asked him about Norv taking over and if Norv could possibly make this offense even more potent. LT said that Norv will get creative but what really made me perk up was that he said it looks like we're gonna see GATES in more roles than we're used to and that Norv has big plans for Gates and that we're gonna see a lot more Gates this year.

The one thing that interested me was the Gates stuff. Thought I'd pass it along....

Thanks...great stuff here.

I hope that when he says that they're like brothers that it doesn't mean that they steal each other's supplements. If so, watch out for LT getting suspended for using Merriman's juice.

Yeah I heard the interview and that's a dead-on recap. I actually thought his mention of Frank Gore when they asked him about other elite backs was interesting. SF and SD played last year and Gore didn't do all that well, so LT must have followed him during the season.

You might want to send H.K. a pm with this.

This sounds like a PL0Y TO MOTIVATE TATUM BELL.

i heard this as well. it sounds like Turner wants to make Gates their #1 WR and TE

He's on LT's fantasy team. Mark it down. CHAMPIONSHIP!

I was already high on Rivers and now this makes it even better. I hope i'm able to nab him late in my real draft.

here's an article on the conversation....

L.T. says Chargers are OK

Adam Schein

Special to FOXSports.com, Updated 7 hours ago

The feeling of joy and budding optimism during a conversation with NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson was momentarily zapped when I asked one simple question.

Are you over the loss to the Patriots in the playoffs last year?

"It took the entire offseason working out with the team. Honestly, talking about it with guys, talking about it with the staff, going over what we could've done, it helped. But it also made us really fired up and focused on the prize this year. I am just finally now to the point where I am getting over it."

And if you are a Chargers fan, this is a good thing.

Tomlinson, in a 15-minute interview yesterday, was pretty giddy about the upcoming campaign. He really believes he can match his 31 total touchdowns, his 1,815 rushing yards, and the Chargers can once again make the playoffs. He loves his teammates and is excited that the band is back together for another legit run at the Super Bowl. Last year's jarring home playoff loss to New England not only sparked the unceremonious dismissal of Marty Schottenheimer as coach, but it made Tomlinson and his fellow Chargers even hungrier.

Like everyone associated with the Chargers, Tomlinson was stunned when Schottenheimer was axed. But he also likes what he sees from new head coach Norv Turner.

"He understands that we have a good team and we are going to win games in the regular season. His focus is how we are going to do against the good teams. His focus is not making foolish and bone-head mistakes in big games and in playoff games. He is going to be more focused on what we are going to do in the playoffs."

And if nothing else, Turner is a quarterback guru. Philip Rivers, who didn't surprise Tomlinson with his consistent and stellar play as a first-time starter, should get even better.

Tomlinson told us, "Philip is a very smart quarterback. He is a guy who learns fast. He has all the intangibles that make you a great quarterback and he loves to compete. And I could see that for years here even when he wasn't playing. He doesn't want to lose. Ever. Philip picks up things so quickly during the week and adjusts so well during games. I can't wait to see his development under Norv."

But what about the guys he'll throw to?

Said Tomlinson: "Vincent Jackson is ready to take over. I really believe that from what I have seen this off-season. People keep forgetting about Malcolm Floyd. If he is healthy, he's a weapon. Eric Parker is still here. And also, watch what happens with Antonio Gates. He is already a premier tight end but you just watch what happens this year with Antonio under Norv."

Fantasy players here on FOXSports.com are gearing up for their drafts and Tomlinson is going to be No. 1 overall in nearly every draft after last season.

And he thinks he can duplicate those numbers.

"I just want to be consistent. That's the way I approach it. Yeah, there are going to be years better than others. Was last year a bench mark or a career year? I don't know. I would like to think that I can do it again, that we as a team and running attack can do it again. Anything is possible. I think the numbers can be approached again."

Tomlinson couldn't stress enough how much he loves his linemen. The running back was tickled that Kris Dielman took less money to rejoin the Chargers offensive line. He loves the rapid development of Marcus McNeill and the excellent play of Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick. And Tomlinson adds that the main reason he feels confident is the chemistry on the offensive line.

"It starts with the guys up front. With the experience and continuity we have with each other, we succeed. We care about each other. That's so important when it comes to team success. The linemen care about each other and care about blocking for me and protecting Philip. Antonio cares about making plays to take the pressure off of the running game. That helps Philip on play action. I'm telling you. This stuff goes a long way."

But will it be enough to go a long way to Arizona and the Super Bowl?

this is another comment from a poster regarding Gates...

there was an interview the other day with gates and he was saying it's kinda scary (IN A GOOD WAY) what norv was bringing to the table he was saying last season our offence was #5 but with all he's bringing I definatly think we can be #1.

From the sounds of it Norv plans on getting Gates involved bigtime this year. Don't forget that Cameron essentially took the offense that Norv left in 2001?? Now he's come back and LT/Gates are top players in their prime and he has arguably the best line in the league. The Chargers offense could be downright scary this year with Norv at the helm.

 Most people don't see it, but I really think this is an offense that (given good health) is ready to explode and be even better than they were last year. LaDainian's numbers might be down, but as a whole I think there'll be improvement.I also like hearing that Norv is focusing on the playoffs and the big matchups. That's what it's all about for the Chargers now. They have the talent to have success in the regular season, it's now time for them to focus on succeeding in the big time.
