Mac Help: Format a Flash Drive (1 Viewer)

chet

Footballguy
I tried to save two 5gb files on to a new 16gb flash drive and got the message that the files are too big for the format. So I went to the disk utility to format the drive as MAC OS Extended but got the following message:

Volume Erase failed with the error:

Couldn’t modify partition map.

Any ideas?

Did yo try both the drive and the partition? Not sure if I have those right (on iPad) but there are two names for each drive. Try both. I look on my machines in a bit.

I looked, and the two names are 'The Physical Disk' and the 'Physical Volume.' I'd make sure that the disk has the same format as the volume.
