Well, it hasn't worked out so well for Vince Young this year after being highly ranked in preseason.

Previous Madden cover boys -

2000: Barry Sanders

2001: Eddie Geroge

2002: Daunte Culpepper

2003: Marshall Faulk

2004: Michael Vick

2005: Ray Lewis

2006: Donovan McNabb

2007: Shaun Alexander

2008: Vince Young

2009: ?????

Can't be anybody but Brady. Assuming he plays well and wins the Super Bowl, good chance he's a 99 or a 100 in the game, too.

They'll either go after the MVP or "young" up and coming star.

Brady or Peterson... I'd think Peterson or maybe Patrick Willis.

They haven't gone back-to-back with the same position since 2000 - 2001. I don't know if that's coincidence or a conscious decision. And I agree they probably would prefer the young exciting player over one who has been around several years. But if the Pats run the table this year it's hard not to choose Brady.

Doubt it'll be Brady. Usually the position on the cover gets the most upgraded features in the game. It's hard to imagine they would continue to focus on the QB position after all the crap they put in for McNabb and VY.

It won't be LT. Did offering him the cover hurt as much as being on it?
He may not have had the monster year of 2006, but he's still atop RB fantasy scoring. I don't see that offering him the cover has hurt him at all. Did anyone really expect a repeat of 2006? I hope everyone had more sense than that.

I don't mean to go there (but I guess I do) but there's never been a white player on the cover of Madden. Maybe Tom Brady or Tony Romo will be the first to break the color barrier.

No but they did expect more consistency than he has given. Just kidding about the offer. I don't believe in jinxes.

I'm guessing Brady is too smart for this. I assume that Madden has to pay the "Cover Boy" and if so, I don't see Brady allowing them to put him on the cover, no matter how much cash they offer. He will also probably talk Moss out of it also.

Madden down? :bow:LAUNCH
Good one. I should have said player.
Technically he was a player, but that's really being picky.I expect it to be Brady.

I came thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to adding that fact in post #4 above then chickened out. I wondered if there was a marketing reason for it or just coincidence. Then I decided to just not go there. I didn't want some big debate over race to take over the thread, but it definitely did occur to me that it was the case.

I agree, if they win next week and win the Super Bowl it is a lock it will be Brady on the cover..... the only way it will not be is if they can not get a deal done to use his likeness because he wants too much money. If Brady will not do it then they will go to Moss and I would be willing to bet he would get the deal done.

No white people allowed on MaddenNo Patriot will do itMy money's on ADP
Not sure if you're familiar with the creator (John Madden) who was on it every year till 2000... I'm pretty sure he's caucasian. :wall:You also have to think that a player has to agree to be on the cover and with that comes time he has to do marketing along with everything else... Alot of guys just don't want the distraction and work with being on the cover just to make a few more G's as if they need it.

I think that either Romo or Peterson will get it. Young, upcoming guys who would love to be on the cover and do all the publicity. I don't see Brady being that interested in being on the cover, especially if they go 19-0.

TO or Moss.

They haven't had a WR on the cover yet and pass catching hasn't been 'upgraded' in the game in awhile.

Let's go with the Iron Man Brett Farve...lets end the curse once and for all!

Please Please Please keep Brady and Moss off the cover!

Maybe they'll put the entire Patriots team on there?

As an ADP owner in both of my dynasty leagues, it's GOTTA be someone other than him.....(please)

That's what I would imagine would be the case also.

Brady will more than likely not do it unless he gets his offensive line on the cover as well. He has turned down several deals because he was asked to be the only person in the commercial, although I do believe he's done some commercials alone... now sure about the second part however.

How about they put Madden back on the cover? Hes about on his way out and I cant wait to hear his voice back on the game this year compared to the BS of this year.

I thought there was talk about Eli at some point, or was that just message board unfounded random rumor?

Stopped playing/following Madden.. what's the focus this year?

Who they put on the cover will likely depend on what new features/emphasis they're putting in the game.

Just a matter of time before this thread becomes a discussion about the validity/invalidity of the curse...

There hasn't been a WR on the Cover yet. You can forget about Randy Moss.

Common sense says Brady or Peterson...but I'm going out on a limb and saying Steven Jackson

Is there some kind of rule that it has to be an active player, or can it be a retired player, Madden paying tribute to Brett Favre by having him on the cover.
