Mag Article on Lineup/Trade Dominator: (1 Viewer)

I have been a FG for several years and I am also happy to say that I received one of the coveted 3 yr Subs for the site! :bye: In reading through the magazine (the other thing that came with my 3 year subscription order :) ) I read through the article towards the front regarding the Lineup Dominator. I have to say I have been a true believer in the Draft Dominator and found the dynamic aspect the last couple of years incredible. However, after the draft I didn't pay much attention to this other tool during the year and didn't really take the time to understand it since I didn't think it would be that useful. Well, apparently after reading this article I am blown away by how incredibly useful it seems to be after the draft and during the season in judging your lineup versus your opponents and who to target in Free Agency and Trades. Now the question I have is: If you used this tool last year and beyond, could you please give me some specific feedback about how useful you found it in managing your team throughout the year, (2) what percentage of credit would you give to this tool for making your season a success and (3) how accurate in predicting player's stats week to week and over the course of the year did you find this tool when you looked back over the results vs. its predictions at the end or after the season? Thanks to all of you for your feedback. I am trying to temper my enthusiasm for this tool until after I read some of your responses! :excited:

I used to do it by hand before they brought it on board. Basically, I would just take the weekly projections and calculate the points for each of my players for that week. Then, I would decide if I agreed or disagreed with them in order to help set my lineup. The LD made it much easier since you just had to download the newest set of projections and if you have a file set up for your league, all number crunching is done automatically for you. Still, it's up to you to decide how much or what players you agree with regarding the weekly projections. Definitely a helpful tool though you could have been doing this all along. Much faster to use the application.

I had Delhomme and McNair, the Line up dominator helped in using them alot. I was 1-1 about being right the times I disagreed and played the other player. As I recall it regularly selected Drew Bennett over Kevin Curtis and Bobby Engram as my #2, even after Issac Bruce was hurt. I gave up on Bennett alot earlier than the dominator. Same with Gonzalez and Cooley, the Dominator stuck with Gonzalez most of the time. But I don't feel that it did a bad job, it would be hard comfortably to bench Gonzo in place of any other TE except Gates. I'll be using it again for sure!

I used it honestly it didn't help much, basically becuase my roster was not deep (due to injuries) so it was very obvisious for me who to start.

What I did find interesting was it was a great way to see who's available free agent wise all season. I liked having that feature and it also allowed you to look a few weeks ahead. Which is nice if you only carry one kicker/defensive team.

Good point and this is true as it includes weekly updated SOS as far as I can recall. The only way you can get a good idea of how useful these tools are is to try them and apply them to your individual leagues. For the most part, you will find a portion of this tool useful that makes it worth your time.

I found the most use out of the lineup dominator in determining which of 2 closely projected players to use in a given week. Most of the season it was a tossup between starting Kerry Collins or Aaron Brooks, so I used the LD and selected the QB based on how he was projected to perform. The same is true for WR3 and my Kicker. Some weeks I'd use Vinatieri others I'd use Jeff Reed. I think its best for those marginal decisions, everyone is going to play their stud RB even if he's projected to have his worst week of the season.

Where is the LD? I checked Tools..and its not there. Its not on the DD page. Thanks!
It's not out there yet. It will probably be back when the season is closer.
Good info and replies guys - thanks. As I mentioned, I was impressed by its capabilities described in the article from the FFG magazine. I really am looking forward to using it to mock my upcoming games against opponents through the year to determine if I need to make pickups/trades and I like the forward looking SOS feature each week. As for the marginal decisions, I would bet the dominator is similar to what you can gleen from all the inseason information that they post but maybe it is different. Either way, I think it should be helpful this year although I wouldn't be sitting Vinitiari for anyone! :)
