Anyone out there who is the office March Madness pool organizer guy doing anything different this year because Kentucky is such a favorite?
One that I have done forever is a draft with 8 people. Draft order picked out of a hat. The guy who picked the winning team got a portion of the pot with most wins paying the rest.Why would that matter?
You could do Boston Celtic method instead of serpentine. That is, 1st round 1-8, all other rounds 8-1 instead of merely alternating.One that I have done forever is a draft with 8 people. This year Kentucky is such a favorite we were looking at options and was also curious of other ways people run theirs.
Yeah. This is what confused me too. I thought he meant picking brackets.Scoresman said:There is more to winning a bracket than picking the winner. No need to change.
EDIT: oh wait you're talking about a draft? nevermind then.
I'd keep it the same if this is a format that's been in place for a long time.If entrants insist on a "Kentucky rule", I'd propose:One that I have done forever is a draft with 8 people. Like this idea but does seem like a bit more work.Does everyone think KU will cover every game?
If not, make it a "cover the spread" draft
It seems this wouldn't work unless you make it about winning percentage instead of total wins. That said, it would be pretty fascinating to see someone pick eight underdogs, have all the underdogs cover without winning, and wrap the whole thing up by going 8-0 in theDoes everyone think KU will cover every game?

There is something to be said for this. Half the time when you try and change stuff it messes up something else.Thomas Dewey was a big favorite too. Don't change a thing.![]()
Seriously? Your team is underdog. They cover and you now take over the team that advances. Your team is underdog and wins, you advance with your team.Not really a lot of work.Like this idea but does seem like a bit more work.Does everyone think KU will cover every game?

Well Crap. That bracket we do on here that is a "cover the spread" one seems to work. Thanks for telling us it doesn't. Oh, wait a minute....It seems this wouldn't work unless you make it about winning percentage instead of total wins. That said, it would be pretty fascinating to see someone pick eight underdogs, have all the underdogs cover without winning, and wrap the whole thing up by going 8-0 in the first second round with no games left.Does everyone think KU will cover every game?
If not, make it a "cover the spread" draft
Not trying to be "that guy" and a big fan, so don't take this the wrong way, but:Does everyone think KU will cover every game?

No, you're right.I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glueNot trying to be "that guy" and a big fan, so don't take this the wrong way, but:KU = KansasDoes everyone think KU will cover every game?
If not, make it a "cover the spread" draft
UK = Kentucky
I was going to let it go because everyone knew what you meant, but my OCD couldn't let me not say something. I apologize in advance.
