Marshal Faulk to the Giants? (1 Viewer)

Pure speculation on my part but you can't argue the fit. He wants to come back for a year and STL really doesn't seem like a fit. His style is nearly identical to that of Tiki. I seems like a great 1 year stop gap for the Giants if they draft a RB in the 2nd-3rd round. Faluk would make a great mentor to a couple of young RB's, he'd be an instant leader in the locker room and POSSIBLY a decent contributor on the field.

It makes sense for Marshal too because the G-men have to be considered a legitimate threat to make the playoffs and as recent history shows, it's anyone's game at that point.

All that being said, I can't see the Giants' brass making this happen. They brought back a coach who has zero respect from his players after all. :goodposting:

I had the same exact thought today when Marshall was interviewing Tiki in Hawaii. Thing is, it would be weird to see Faulk playing his home game outdoors. His whole career has been under the roof (Indy/St. L)...

Marshall Faulk is done.

Even in the off chance that he does come back, it will be purely as a role player. It will be disappointing to watch...especially as high as your expectations are. He's 35 years old, and his knees are shot.

Marshall looks like the chocolate dough-boy right now. I thought Eisen looked in better shape in Hawaii.

word is that he hasn't worked out in a long, long time and even if he started working out as hard as he could rightnow, he still wouldn't be able to get into game shape for next season.

What about Barry Sanders? I think he'd have a better shot of coming back productive than Faulk.
Based on what? :goodposting: I'm not saying I'd expect to see him come back and put up 02/ 03 numbers. He has only been out of football for 1 season. In 05 he had 65 carries and 44 receptions. He would still be a legitimate receiveing threat out of the back field ad a good change of pace for a pure power runner like Jacobs.I think Marshal could come back for a productive season. "Productive" is relative to expectations. He's not a guy who will ever find his way on to a fantasy roster again but he could be a good situational/ 3rd down back.

:unsure:When next season begins, he will have not played in a game for about 20 months and will be 34 1/2 years old, with a recent history of knee problems. And he doesn't appear to have been keeping himself in shape, either. Roster spots are too precious to NFL teams to waste one, and it is just hard for me to imagine him being worth it to any team.

Very good point.

Marshall couldn't even get signed by any team in the NFL at this point unless it was in a coaching role. He left football due to a degenerative knee condition and age. He's another year older and hasn't kept in shape. Even if he did try to keep in shape his knees are shot.So basically he's in the same boat as any RB like Sanders/OJ/Jim Brown....retired and done with football.
