Massive hail storm causes insurance to pay for new rooves (1 Viewer)

Or is it roofs? Two houses (the old one I live in was already bad, elderly parents next door get an upgrade, carport and shed get an upgrade) it's progress ... ya know it's gonna be great to have all these problems fixed, but of course it's been very disruptive. Huge mess, very loud. Totally paid for by insurance because of a hail storm. We also had a car totalled out.

Never seen anything like it, they played my video on the local news.

Like $40k worth of work, lotta work. Course, the broken windshield on my parts car isn't covered.

1990 Miata

Steel car, partly shaded by a tree, all dented to hell. Now has a salvage title.

1965 Mecury Montclair, covered by an old ripped up car cover ... pretty much zero damage. Windshield cracked, but it was damaged already.

Zero metal damage though. They made cars with thicker steel back then.

She's for sale too. Needs motor, clear title, all original, $2k.

Yeah, I bet.

I figure it works like this:

insurance company agrees to distrubite X dollars amongst it's customers after a storm lkke this. We had several people bidding for this job, went with the one the insurance company suggested, and they are doing a fantastic job. I am totally amazed at the energy these guys have to work these long shifts, do such a big job so fast. So, pretty much these roofing companies, after a storm like that are fighting for clients, yeah ... sure. Homeowners might pay for a whole new roof, even though your roof is 50 years old.

Great for the homeowner, gets a new roof, not great for the insurance company, but like I said, they got a certain ammount of mulah to distribute. So we made a claim right away, and they just OKd like pretty much eveything.

Long term customer.

For a 1990 Miata, the bodywork to fix the hail damage totalled it. They pId like $4k, and we get to keep the car, but it now has a salvage title. My Mom is the original owner.
