Seriously, what's the take on this guy long term? Can we give him a mulligan for the season? He did have just under 1,500 yards from scrimmage last year. Is he still a top 15 dynasty RB? I understand we have no idea what his coaching situation will be next year, but I can't image they would bring in another RB to compete with him for the starting job.
Considering the Chargers will have a new coach in 2013, I'd say Mathews will gradually dwindle even further into obscurity. They need to rebuild their entire O-line and get better play out of Rivers in 2013. Odds of both of those happening are slim to none.
Unless Mathews gets traded to a team with a good O-line and gets armor installed on his body ala Wolverine, he's probably at the end of his rope.
Wow, didn't think he'd dropped that far. I've been willing to give guys a mulligan before on a bad year or needing time to fully acclimate to the NFL (Spiller, Ingram, J Stew, R Rice...). So you're writing him off totally and not even considering him to be a low end #2?
