oh manRadio reports now say that it's for FELONY possession of Cocaine.
How many examples do these guys need before they figure out that messing around with drugs will screw up your life and nfl career? What a dummy...Radio reports now say that it's for FELONY possession of Cocaine.
He should have ate the blow instead.July 10, 2008, 10:02Jaguars :: WRJaguars WR Jones Arrested For Felony Cocaine PossessionUSA Today - [Full Article]Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones was arrested early Thursday morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Officers say they searched the vehicle Jones and two other men were in, and found a plastic bag filled with a white substance that tested positive for cocaine and a jar with possible marijuana residue inside. Officers allege they saw a card covered in a white powder in Jones' lap.
Great Scot! This stuff impairs judgement?Confirmed it was cocaine

Police say they found a jar with possible marijuana residue inside the car and a plastic bag of what was likely cocaine. Officers say Jones admitted he had cocaine.
I don't know about AK but in IL possession of any amount of cocaine is a felony (amount will determine class of felony). There is a separate act re: cannabis that makes possession of MJ a lesser offense than other controlled substances, esp. re: small amounts.Radio reports now say that it's for FELONY possession of Cocaine.
I disagree, first he is not good enough to warrant the risk and second we are talking "cocaine". This makes him a very high risk to be a repeat offender. It was a simply a matter of time until he got released from the Jags but in time he's going to get signed by someone else if he wants the job. I know everyone is screaming he is a bust but I've not exactly seen a WR on the Jags do anything since Jimmy Smith left. I think with a change of scenery he still has a chance to be a very productive NFL football player.
Jones was never in the mix anyway. He was at best #5 on the DC.Pictus Cat said:On the plus side, JAX gets a clearer WR picture, kinda.
I think our "war on drugs" is stupid but as long as these drugs are illegal you are an idiot for doing them. It is sad to see someone mess up his life just to get high for a few hours especially when he has undoubtedly seen countless other athletes go down the same road before him.I have no emotional stake in Matt Jones, the Jags, or Arkansas football, but stories like this always depress me. Even if this guy is a complete bust as a NFL player, he was a 1st round pick who figured to stick in the league for at least another year or two making well into the five figures in salary over and above his signing bonus as a rookie. He should be financially set for life and able to pick what he wants to do for the remaining 40 or so years he remains on this planet. Instead he pisses away what he's got and is going to end up as just another 30-year old former college football player working in a warehouse or supervising a parking lot somewhere, that is if he's not still in prison. Unreal.

It's hard to be a productive NFL player when you cringe from contact. Matt Jones is by far the biggest pu**y I've ever seen in a NFL uniform. On top of that his work ethic is completely non-existent.It was a simply a matter of time until he got released from the Jags but in time he's going to get signed by someone else if he wants the job. On the plus side, looks like the RaidersPatriots just found a new WR ...
So, Ray Lewis or Jamal Lewis can get caught up in felony charges but Matt Jones career is automatically over after one arrest?I have no emotional stake in Matt Jones, the Jags, or Arkansas football, but stories like this always depress me. Matt Jones has not performed anywhere near the level of Ray and Jamal Lewis. Teams are more willing to give good players another chance or two than they are to a player that has underachieved and been called lazy. So, Ray Lewis or Jamal Lewis can get caught up in felony charges but Matt Jones career is automatically over after one arrest?I have no emotional stake in Matt Jones, the Jags, or Arkansas football, but stories like this always depress me. You have absolutely no idea what his work ethic is you just see his body language and assume. Pu**y's don't end their careers as the SEC's leading all time rusher from the QB position. It's hard to be a productive NFL player when you cringe from contact. Based on the fact he did about as much as any WR on the Jags since he got there and unlike them he was learning a new position which generally would mean he has room to grow.Am I saying he is going to produce numbers to justify making him a first round pick? While I'm not ruling it out I'm not saying that. But he can be productive. Sorry if he let some of you down in fantasy football but it's kind of silly to assume a guy who made a huge position switch in the NFL is a finished product after 3 seasons. Please see examples below of the following current players after 3 seasons:A- 37 catches, 520 yards, 14.05 YPC, 3 TD'sB- 101 catches, 1,392 yards, 13.8 ypc, 13 TD'sC- 124 catches, 1,556 yards, 12.54 YPC, 11 TD'sTwo of those players have appeared in pro bowls and the other is Matt Jones. Not saying he will get to that level but I'm saying it's to early to write him off.hey Meno, very productive? seriously? based on whatIt was a simply a matter of time until he got released from the Jags but in time he's going to get signed by someone else if he wants the job. I will assume that this doesn't reflect your judgment as to football talent and conclude that this is simply a silly comparison. So, Ray Lewis or Jamal Lewis can get caught up in felony charges but Matt Jones career is automatically over after one arrest?I have no emotional stake in Matt Jones, the Jags, or Arkansas football, but stories like this always depress me. You can't make a comparison like this!! Matt Jones got caught with cocaine, he didn't kill anyone!!!So, Ray Lewis or Jamal Lewis can get caught up in felony charges but Matt Jones career is automatically over after one arrest?I have no emotional stake in Matt Jones, the Jags, or Arkansas football, but stories like this always depress me. Thanks for the response but I guess I dont get the point of your comparison. You are correct that 3 years might be too early to write him off, and a change of scenery might do him good. But that's a risk I'll let someone else takeBased on the fact he did about as much as any WR on the Jags since he got there and unlike them he was learning a new position which generally would mean he has room to grow.Am I saying he is going to produce numbers to justify making him a first round pick? No problem and my point was just that there are WR's who have not taken the league by storm after 3 years who have had similar or less production than him who go on to become very good players.I'd also point out converted QB's like Bennett and ARE. With the exception of Bennett's one big year Jones has produced similar type numbers and both of those guys are generally considered productive and have probably reached the peak of their development. Unlike Jones those two did not get arrested for coke so he is going to have a difficult time catching on with another team. Like you there will be a lot of teams, the majority probably, that will let someone else take that chance. But I do think it will happen. And again let me stress I'm not saying he is going to be star. Thanks for the response but I guess I dont get the point of your comparison. You are correct that 3 years might be too early to write him off, and a change of scenery might do him good. But that's a risk I'll let someone else take
Probably exactly what Jones was thinking himself: 'Well, I suck. I was over hyped. I made a few $million. Im gonna get high now, I'm done anyway.'Wow, shocking news. He was on the way out of Jacksonville anyway. No link, just a hunch. Now the chances are even greater that he'll be released.
Shall we count up the arrest numbers for each team over the past few years? Not that I would know through practice, but 28 grams of cocaine seems like quite an amount of cocaine. Sheesh.Radio reports now say that it's for FELONY possession of Cocaine.(b)1.
