Matt Jones is a starting WR for the Jaguars (1 Viewer)

Who? Matt " The White Horse " Jones? Unless you paint the football white,he isn't going to catch it.

I'm actually on board. I haven't owed him in the past so I haven't been burnt.

From what I hear he understands the playbook much better and it's showing. I'm looking at a breakout season in the making. I dropped my last pick, Josh Morgan, and picked up Jones after what I saw in preseason.

I'll take a chance on him, but only if it's really, and I mean really, late in my draft and he's still there.

For an RB no doubt, but there are clearly lots of starting WRs that have minimal value. Until we see some consistent production from Jones, I would continue to lump him in this category.

I'd continue to lump ANY Jags WR in that category
Can't argue with you there, although Reggie Williams did show some promise. I'd like to see more of what he can do now that he has a few years under his belt.

why did this coke head not feel the wrath of Goodell?
most likely because the court case has not been settled yet.once that is then goodell will most likely hand out some punishment if jones isn't remanded to jail at the conclusion of his case.there are way to many red flags on this guy for me to take a chance again on him. possible jail time, possible suspension, lack of historical production and jerry porter etc all make him look very scary in the next month or so.

You can take him with the last pick of a draft and today is the last day before the opener. He is starting. He did look strong and sharp this preseason. He won the job against odds when Jax was ready to pink slip him. It's good sometimes to take a small risk on bigger upside with someone you can easily waive if deserved when the inevitable injuries and bye weeks come. He may just play himself into decent trade bait before Porter's return. In the WR ssshhh thread I said I was planning on spending $1 on him very late in an auction, which is tonight, and I probably will. Seems like a harmless addition to me right now. I'm talking WR6.

i wont argue with that at all nor am i telling anyone not to do so as he is probably worth taking a flier on late in a draft. i just won't be doing it.

Absolutely. In 10 and 12 team redrafts, he's likely available and a decent substitute for Marshall and Smith. 4-60-1 for game 1 is easily within reach with a higher upside. For my 16 team dynasty, it was a surprsise he was available, had to pick him up. Brandon Lloyd is another starter that doesn't seem to be rostered, but the CHI O is a

Once When Porter is healthy (week 3 at the latest), he might will push Jones out of that starting position.
Fixed.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Reggie Williams pushed to the slot. His skills are better utilized vs #3 CBs. The Jags used a 3 WR as their base set last year.
Jags really like Northcutt as their slot #3 receiver.
Yeah, he's the "money" WR. If they need a key catch they're going to him, at least that's how it seemed to me last year. Frankly, I don't think Ds will allow it this year. I don't think he's good enough to handle too much attention and (if I were a D cooridinator) I'd dare them to throw it to anyone else. I think Northcutt is going to have a rough year if the other WRs don't step up.

Garrard is all but a lock to throw for 3000 yards and 17 TDs..... curious where you think all those passes are going?

Garrard has never thrown for 3k yards, not even 300 in a game for that matter. I don't think he's a lock to do something he hasn't done in his 6 years in the league. He started 12 games and threw for 2500. I imagine you're projecting that out to 16 games. Well how about the 10 games started and just 1700 yards passing in 2006?Like I said earlier, we've done this debate before. For FF, and only FF, I'm not a fan of Garrard and others around here really like him. Just a difference of opinion.

SHH!!! Don't tell that to the people who think he is a better option than Palmer their heads might explode.

All aboard
Now we just need someone to post the Youtube highlight video with Blur (Song 2) and we can relive 2005 all over again...Except of course now we have the history of 3 forgettable seasons and the off-season cocaine bust...

He's worthy to pickup as a #5 or lower WR on your roster. If he goes to jail or demoted, unload him and pickup another journeyman WR for your depth. At least he still is young and provides you with "potential" studness albeit very, very remote chance. No harm if you can find a roster spot for him deep. Counting on him to be your #3 WR??...you're probably screwed.

Now Reggie Williams is questionable.

Jaguars’ Williams misses practice

Sep 3, 6:33 pm EDT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Jaguars receiver Reggie Williams missed practice Wednesday because of a hamstring injury and might not be ready for the season opener.

Williams, who sat out much of training camp and part of the preseason after having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, was expected to be in the starting lineup Sunday at Tennessee. But he spent Wednesday’s practice riding a stationary bike and working with team trainers.

His latest injury could mean Jacksonville will try to speed up Jerry Porter’s return. Porter, who had offseason surgery to repair a torn hamstring, practiced Monday for the first time in nearly three months. Coach Jack Del Rio initially said Porter needed to practice two weeks before he would be ready to play, but he has seemingly softened his stance since.

If Williams and Porter both sit out the opener, the Jaguars would have Matt Jones, Dennis Northcutt, Troy Williamson and Mike Walker at the position.

:football: Is Garrard being drafted anywhere near Palmer?
