McFadden... still a stud? (1 Viewer)

He's averaging Less Than 1 yard/carry the past 2 games.

I understand he faced Pittsburgh & nobody expected much, but I would've assumed 60-70 total yards was his floor that week. But totally crapping the bed vs Miami was a surprise to me.

I only have the RedZone channel, and I don't think they showed a single Raiders running play this week. Anybody see the past 2 games, how does has he looked?

He'll be fine.

The Miami was aberration, they had the ball for a whole 15 minutes.

Pittsburg is Pittsburg.

His schedule is the sexy, I wouldn't be worried, if anything they'll realize after the Miami they need to control the clock and give him the ball.

He isn't as bad as he has been recently, but he isn't as good as some people here thought based on really a handful of games. You have to take in the full spectrum: he had two bad seasons, followed by a handful of stellar games, another injury, and now a couple of horrendous games. The bottom line is no running back is effective when there is no hole. The games Bush started the blocking for him was horrible. Now McFadden has had a couple like that. I think McFadden is a safe start depending on the matchup, but he isn't the kind of running back who will get you two or three yards when there is nothing there like Adrian Peterson or even Bradshaw.

Sorry all, I benched him the last two games. He'll be back in my lineup and resume his top 10 status moving forward.

I was at the Steelers game and there were not holes, but McFadden wasn't a stud in that game either. When he was having success early in season he was breaking tackles, catching balls, and running people over. In Steelers game he ran up middle and got tackled for loss or 1 yard up field. There was no creativity in offense, no effort to get him the ball in passing game, no putting him out in slot on line backer so he could get open, nothing. The offense is lacking creativity and McFadden seems disinterested again. I hope they get teh passion back. I love Cable as coach he needs to get the fire and find creative ways to get McFadden the ball. They have become to in love with Ford and it is killing their offense. Now Cambell is in there and he needs to do a better a better job of getting the ball to mcfadden in passing game

I have noticed some of what you're referring too. Come on Hue! Work your magic. It would be great to see Miller get right. I think he draws some of that attention in the middle of the field that can create opportunities to others around him, helping the offense gel as a whole.

Sexy or tasty?

I've watched both of his last two games and I agree 100% with the above. No running lanes aside... I did not like his body language in either contest. Seems to lack the passion to "get whatever he can get" in tough match-ups. Mental errors in the passing game too have me worried (dropping balls).Color me concerned at best... fearing the worst though as the Raiders season goes down the tubes.

On some plays he looks like a total bust, seems to go down easy and not fight for that extra yard. And then he gives you a 50 yard run like he did up the middle yesterday and you see that he is a special special player. I think the Raiders are still working trying to find the perfect rhythm for him. He is not a 30 carry a game guy or a guy you just keep handing off to expecting to get better but he is someone that can catch in the open field and make crazy things happen. Until I watched his 2 long td's I honestly had no idea he was that fast. He went through the hole on the run and there was just no chance the defense was going to catch him.

I didn't watch the game. Going through the play log, it looks like McFadden has entire series off? These are the Raiders drives and the RB's who were active on each drive.

1 DMC

2 DMC

3 Reece/Bush

4 DMC

5 DMC

6 Reece/Bush

7 DMC

8 Bush

9 DMC

10 DMC

11 Reece/DMC

12 Not sure, last OAK drive of game, all shotgun passes

Again, I didn't watch the game. Maybe DMC, Bush, Reece were in on some other drives but they didn't get a carry or a reception so I wouldn't know. The breakdown seemed interesting tho.

do you expect him to break every run?

No but it seems like he either gets hit for a loss or its a 9 yard run. It seems its rare that he has a 4 or 5 yard run consistently.

Got me 41 points yesterday. Yeah, he's a stud.

He is the lead back but Bush gets lots of carries too and is effective. I think the Raiders have learned that McFadden is key to their success, but he is fragile, and they don't want him to get hurt.

Major weather event alert. Run DMC will be sitting while Bush will be running over the dead horses!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Oakland Raiders host the Denver Broncos in Week 15 and local forecasters are predicting a "major weather event", reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. McDonald suggests RB Michael Bush might have a better rushing day than RB Darren McFadden, considering McFadden has likely played on mostly artificial surfaces as a Southeastern Conference star.

Weather.com shows 70% chance of rain, temp in low 50s, wind from 5-9 MPH. Is this a major event? And has he not been playing on grass at Oakland Coliseum through all of 08, 09, and this year? I don't get this report from Jerry McDonald at all.

Agreed. McFadden is in his 3rd year. He's a professional football player. I think he can handle some wet turf.

:goodposting: :goodposting: He's been in the league what.. 3 years now? I'm sure hes ok with running on grass.

McDonald needs to have his journalism credentials pulled immediately. While McFadden was at Arkansas, the Razorbacks played on natural grass. Is this really how bad journalists have gotten? Completely incapable of doing simple research? :goodposting:

Bush owner? Did you see McFadden's last game against The Broncos?

Wasn't the field soaked for the KC game this year? McFadden stats weren't great, but he had more opportunities than Bush.

How's the drainage on the field? Do they cover the field in bad weather when not in use?

Well considering it's also a baseball diamond, I assume there's a tarp laying around somewhere. Not sure if they'd use it before a football game though.

I'm stuck at home waiting for an electrician (my half day off is now a full day  ) so I called the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and asked if they covered the field for rain, specifically this weekend. The guy laughed and immediately replied, "Let me guess, fantasy football? Yes, the field will be covered and ready for game day."He was pretty cool about it, told him I was bored and waiting. Then he suggested , since I now have the full day off, I should enjoy a couple of cold ones cause that is what he would do. :lmao: Time to hit the leftovers from Monday night!

Haha, wonder how many calls he's gotten from McFadden owners. :D Thanks for the update! So with a dry field, I'm gonna go ahead and predict another 45 point day.

Go Frogs man... class of 07.

That great breakaway speed that we all heard about when McFadden came into the NFL was on full display on Sunday, particularly

that 50+ yard TD run when he simply ran through and pulled away from MULTIPLE defenders. Not many people (maybe Chris Johnson) can do that. That is what I think we have been waiting to see.

Rain is in the forecast in Oakland, with showers starting Saturday and continuing all weekend. The field at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum could be a mess by the time these teams are through. Winds are expected to reach up to 20 mph, cooling game-time temps into the high 40s.
:banned:Why me! He has a freaking DREAM matchup, and the sloppy field could totally neutralize his speed. Great.

You know the defensive players play on the same field, right? My only concern about Mcfadden is the game is going to be over at half time, and we will see alot of Michael Bush.

Had no idea. I feel much better now.

Now that is some funny stuff right there. Reminds me of the "The League" show on FX. :lmao: I don't care if they're playing on a fricken ice skating rink, I'm playing McFadden and with great confidence.

That's some strong wind. Sounds like a lot of running. :wall:

Hopefully I'm just being a Nervous Nelly, but DMac has often looked like he's on roller skates on a DRY field.

I'll hold my breath and wish for the best. :wall:
