Mendenhall (1 Viewer)

Per Rotoworld:

Rashard Mendenhall reportedly sent a text to Ray Rice recently, promising he'll have a "big game against Rice's Ravens on Monday night.Bad move, rook. Rice, of course, showed the text to his teammates. "He said later that he was just joking, but it's too late," Ravens linebacker Bart Scott said. "Thanks for the bulletin-board material, rookie."

you don't challenge Ray Lewis and Bart Scott. Remember when Bart Scott referred to his tackle that twisted Reggie Bush's ankle as "puttin a little hot sauce on it"?

fumblinhall won't be able to hold onto the football long enough to get past his own line.

Just let the actual quote stand. Rotoworld added in a bunch of hooey.

Ravens 2-0. Steelers 2-1. Certainly sounds like a big game monday.

MeMo is going to get a lot of looks Monday night after Mendy gets stuffed & Fumbles
I think Moore is an excellent sneaky-play this weekend... Lance Moore.
I picked up MeMo in most the leagues I play... Mainly because I have McGahee in a lot of leagues and theres a chance he might not play or be limited. If theres a chance Willis misses the game, I atleast have a quick plug in at RB.But I expect a lot of 3rd and Longs and there should be some targets that go to whoever is in at RB for the Steelers, Memo is an ideal 3rd Down RB. If he go for 4 or 5 Recs and 50 total... thats still a sneaky 10 pts from the waiver

I'm with you. I was being a smart ###. Although, I do think Lance outscores MeMo.

Friday, 1:54 p.m.

The Ravens-Steelers game on Monday night gained a little extra spice recently when Pittsburgh rookie Rashard Mendenhall's text to Baltimore rookie Ray Rice was passed on to the Ravens defense. From ESPN.com's James Walker:

"[Mendenhall] recently sent a text message to Rice saying he's going to have a big game against the NFL's top-ranked defense. Obviously, Rice, who often praises the Ravens' defense as 'scary,' passed the text message along to his teammates, who are not taking Mendenhall's proclamation lightly. 'He said later that he was just joking, but it's too late,' Ravens linebacker Bart Scott said. 'Thanks for the bulletin-board material, rookie.' "

The complete ESPN.com story is here.

This makes me want to play Mendenhall more. Now it's put up or shut up. I'm sure Mendy will have his game face on. It might not do any good, but I'm sure he will show up.

Last time a Steeler player talked trash before a big game, he got torched by Brady and subsequently lost his starting job............. :goodposting:

As much as I've been dying to put him in my lineup, Mendenhall is basically unstartable this week.

I see no upside, and I'll will probably start an average WR who has a good matchup instead of him.

Ray Lewis is a Washup has been, can't wait to see Mendy run his ### over. :excited:
 We can talk trash on anyone in our division, and that includes our rookies. We own the AFC North and we routinely pimp-slap the other teams and have been doing so for decades. In any other division, this may be a bad move. But the Steelers run $#!7 in our division, so don't sweat it.Predictions for MNF:Steelers 38Ravens 13Mendenhall: 25 rushes, 120 yds, 2 TDs:hophead:

If a text message is what it takes to motivate an NFL player then maybe they're in the wrong line of work.

:lmao:
December 10th, 2006That was the last time an NFL running back has rushed for over 100-yards against the Ravens. Larry Johnson put up 23-107-0 in that game. Since the end of the 2005 season, it's only happened twice.

That's a bold call, sir.

Ha. So true. What's that guy beyond his silly little pregame dance and on field convulsions anyway? Baltimore has no offense. Zero. Ray ray and his cronies will be on the field all night Monday and Mendenhall will run right over them in the 2nd half. Baltimore has beaten Cincy and Cleveland so far. Excuse me if I'm not impressed.17-6 Steelers :yucky:

Two stupid rookies - Mendenhall for providing inspiration to his opponents, and Rice for having his cell phone nailed up on the wall as bulletin board material.

Pittsburgh's offensive line flat-out sucks.

a guy has alittle confidence maybe alittle cocky and you guys go to town on him? Whats wrong with one rookie rb talking alittle crap to another rookie RB before a big monday night game?

I like it personally. I expect Mend to have 100 combined yards. He is a good receiver out of the back. Better yet, 0 fumbles.

Perhaps but both scenarios are pretty unrealistic. I don't see the Steelers turning the ball over 5 times at home on Monday night and I don't see Mendenhall going nuts.

Ray Lewis is probably so happy that Dan Krieder isn't around to make him his kitty any longer(Dan's on the right) that he didn't need a text message to get him giddy.

That being said, the Ravens are THE suck in Pittsburgh(just as Pittsburgh has had more trouble with Baltimore in Baltimore). If anyone thinks Joe friggin' Flacco is coming to town and winning in the Steelers' house, they've probably got another thing coming. It may be fugly, but the Steelers will wind up winning. Mr. Flacco could hand them a score on his own.

Everything being equal, I'd rather have Mendenhall texting Rice that he's going to "have a big game" than having him send him e-hugs or saying "You know what I think I'll do this week? Fumble. Please tell your boys not to be too mean to me."

Steelers always play well on MNF, especially at home. I don't look for Mendy to have a huge game, but the line has something to prove and Ben will throw 3 tds. Flacco won't be able to handle the big stage on the road against a very good D.

Steelers 24

Ravens 10

Mendenhall is alot smarter than you think...he sent that text to Rice knowing Balt. would gear up for him on the ground when Pitt is actually putting in a gameplan to throw all night...

cmon people get with the program here...

Tomlin will NOT lean on a rookie RB in his first start against a good D on a monday night stage in a big division game, that doesn't sound like something Tomlin would do anyway.

ok, now please continue on...

OK. so which of the current Ravens was the COACH KILLER of the last half decade? Which responsible for the horrible 42-zip game last season?

Gee, win 2 games in septempber and all of a sudden you're world beaters over the traditional King Gorillas in the Black and BRUISE division?

I'll stick with the theory that he's dumb.

Pass that when you're done, homeboy...
:hifive: :lmao: But I agree Mendy will go over 100 yds and a TD or 2.
I doubt he breaks 75, let alone 100.
I bet oddsmakers would put the over/under for his rushing yards around 45.My guess is 14/42, 1 fumble, although i hope i am wrong.
I'll say 20 rushes for 60 yds and 3 tds (coming on goal line ops)

His current over/under is 51.5 rushing yards at -155 over / +125 under. Since the betting is favoring the over, you could set it at 60 yards even money.

The game betting line and over/under is Pittsburgh -5 and 34 points, so using common scoring combos and betting lines, you are looking at approximately:

Pittsburgh 20

Baltimore 14

Mendenhall gets about 60 or so rushing yards. Maybe he gets a TD, maybe not. Mewelde Moore gets 3rd downs probably, so maybe Rashard gets a catch or two.

Steelers homer here.

Hate to say it, but Mendenhall has been horribly overrated by the FF community.

He's Ronnie Brown (thanks EBF) without the feet. Poor pad level, poor vision, indecisive.

He'll get what's blocked and nothing more.

16 for 64. No fumbles. 2 rec for 13. No TD's

This will give all the fanboys an excuse for why his career will be such a disappointment.

"If he hadn't played the stingy, angry Ravens in his first start..."

(This is directed at EBF)

OK, so we have to watch out for the big bad Ravens defense that's gonna kill Rashard...please, both these teams hate each other so it looks as if Balt is reaching to get fired up for this one, which is not good for them...all that matters is the W anyway so we'll see.

wow...I'll take the "under" on all accountsthe Ravens haven't allowed a 100 yd rusher in 21 games@2.8/ru, I'm thinking Mouth Mendenhall makes it 22 straightI like the Steelers @home, but not after they know they played a football game16-13 Pitt

sorry grouse...you're all over that little ditty about the 100 yd rusher

I hope he rushes 12 times for 3 yards... so I can trade for him. Bad matchup for his first game, but if he does play well, we could see less of Parker after he comes back.
