Mercury Morris is just one phone call away! (1 Viewer)

I would say they're pretty much "on his block" now, if not making a late-night snack in his kitchen.

Link to the crotchety curmudgeon... AKA "Mr. Bitter Pants"
They aren't much closer than where they were when the comments were made. At the time the comments were made there weren't many teams that were going to give them a game and many people pointed to the NYG team coming up as a team that could put the type of pressure on Brady you'll need to win against NE.The big test comes in the playoffs. NE is the best team I've ever seen but they'll have to beat three good teams before they call Mr. Morris. I kind of though it was cool the old dude got so worked up about it. You know ever member of that Dolphin team has been asked about the Patriots roughly a thousand times. I guess they finally got one to crack. Of course he wants NE to lose. I don't blame him.

I think the sour grapes of that '72 team would be the only silver lining to the Patriots going 19-0 to me.

does anyone else want to see Morris in the broadcast booth to be a color commentator? That is of course if he can prevent himself from bringing up the '72 Dolphins at all.

I didn't see all of it... but I sure like that guy. I'm also not a Pats-hater and am of the opinion the Pats are the best team ever. Wish we could get Morris in the booth as a color analyst, he really doesn't pull any punches.

Morris reminds me of that jock you went to highschool with. On the 20th reunion he is still talking about the time he hit the game winning basket. 20 years ago it was an interesting story, now it's just pathetic.

One of the biggest reasons I hope the Pats win it all is so I never have to see or hear from him again.

Only now it is 80 feet to win the state championship. Mercury simply wasn't a great player.

You know what? That's because he did hit the winning basket. If the Pats run the table I hope to see a 45 year old Tom Brady talkin' 'bout how the other teams have to dress up for Thanksgivin' dinner and the whatnot. That's right. What I just wrote didn't mean much sense. But you give me a ligh and a leighty and I'll show you a shumny. i'm drunk.

I don't think you will hear this guy go away. From interviews I have heard, the best the Pats can do is repeat the feat the 72 Dolphins did (undefeated season, and win the SB). It will not matter that the Regular season is two games longer.

every time i hear morris ranting, i'd like to hear the interviewer ask, " where did you learn that, in prison?"

I wished theyd interview him again
He is coming up on Mike and Mike in the next segment. Hopefully, they get him rolling!
They got him rolling. I really don't want NE to win (mostly due to the punkish behavior of their fans), but listening to Mercury I want him to shut up - forever hopefully. Quotes like - we did it with real people, not stars; they are in the neighborhood, but they still have to find some real estate. I didn't " " those because I don't think I have the wording exact, but I do have the meaning. What a tool. They played the worst schedule in the history of any Super Bowl Champ and one of the worst schedules in the history of the NFL, but won't give NE any credit. If NE wins, they will have beat every top team in the NFL this season except GB. That is an impressive feat by itself.

MM was a cool player. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't take the drug rap for his teammates. As far as I know, he is the only Dolphin to do time. Considering Miami and the NFL in the 70's, it would be naive to think that he was the only one using or trafficking.

You paraphrased pretty close. He said they are in his neighborhood but they have not been welcomed yet because they haven't yet proven they belong there. He said that if they win, he'll put on his Mr. Rogers sweater and welcome them to his neighborhood. However, he said roughly 10-15 times that all New England can do is secure their spot as the 2nd best team all-time. He said they can never be the best team because they were not the first to achieve this accomplishment. He says the Patriots would merely be repeating what the best team already accomplished, in a totally different era where teams have the ability to lure FAs such as Moss/Welker to make such feats possible.

Interesting re-trenchment of his former "equals" position. He probably fears the end / the dilution of his former gravy train.Oddly enough, I don't find the guy nearly as offensive as Shula.

What a lot of nonsense. It definitely shows that his football career is really all he has (had) going for him in life.

He really needs to let it go. Be a man about it. He and his team went undefeated. They were not the best team ever and are not even close IMO. He acts like he was a top 10 RB of all time. Let it go and move on.

 Mercury Morris is such a great guy that he went to prison for selling drugs when he wasn't guilty, just because he loved his teammates so much? Um, ok.Morris was agruably the 3rd best running back on the '72 dolphins, behind Czonka and Kiick. Why he is the designated mouthpiece for that team is beyond me.

That Mercury Morris Reebok commercial is GREAT, and I'm not even a Patriot hater. BB is the best coach, Brady is the best QB and that is the best team I've ever seen but the commercial is pretty funny.

I'm shocked this wasn't bumped a long time ago.

For as bad as Morris is, I'd take him every day over a Randy Moss running his mouth!

That would have been the worst nightmare any of us fans could have endured.

:goodposting: :goodposting: :goodposting: I can promise you I'd have a hard time getting out of bed for the next couple of months knowing that PoS quitter has a ring. Now, food tastes better, coffee smells better, sex ........ is still a memory, except on weekends.

Mercury is an embarassment, he's becoming a major voice of a historic team by acting like a lunatic. Why does he care so much?

Any of them.Think of it this way...while it would have quieted the 72 Dolphins down...youd have a new team that would be doing similar things to hear from over the years. The 72 guys are getting older...there will be fewer and fewer of them left as the years go on.Why have a new breed of them to keep doing the same thing (plus the lunatics that the Pats fans would become would be even worse than some of them are now)

:goodposting: Not to mention some of the fans that actually saw the '72 team and still holds on to that. I'll miss you grandma. :bye: No - j/k - my Grandma has class - she's a Bear fan.

Bleh.I think Shula put it pretty well. The members of that team like the idea of being the only undefeated NFL team in NFL history. If they want to root to keep the record I don't see why they shouldn't be able to root for that to happen. It's part of this whole "If you dare say the Patriots might lose you are a hater and they're going to take it out on you" going on in the media right now. If anyone dares to say they might lose they are labeled as a bad guy. Was what Smith/Igor/Burres said really all that bad? It's crazy the level of reverence people are giving that franchise right now. I think they are a great team, but they are just one team out of 32.

Did I hear Mike/Mike correctly this morning that Morris said the '07 Pats can no longer even be considered in the top 42 teams all time having not won a championship? Ouch.

I LOVE the part where they are trying to tell Gary Y "You were the kicker, remember?"........

Is Eli the delivery guy? It's tough to tell, but the first time I saw it I thought it was him ...Ni

No, just the note was from him. They also shot a commercial in the event that the Pats won. It showed them moving their belongings into the house.Maybe next year...
