MFL users: Is your commish locked out? Beware... (1 Viewer)

That's not the point.  All doubt should be removed, so the commish should turn this option off until it is needed.  I won't play in a league where the commish refuses to do this

So your requirement to play in a league is that you don't trust your commish?  Odd.

MFL added an option as commish this year to swap directly back to your owner login rather than what you used to have to do--manually hitting log out, then logging in as an owner. It wasn't hard, but it was slightly annoying. Now there isn't even that barrier anymore. On MFL, there is zero reason not to hit the button and go back to being an owner when you're done doing your commish thing. Its not even an inconvenience anymore.

It's been that way for a few years.

The commissioner hasn't turned turned this setting off . I've only been in his league for 2 years now (including this year) and I don't have any reason to not trust him, but I still don't think it's right for him to have the ability of being able to see blind bids.  He also has 2 co-commissioners who may also be able to see the bids. I already brought it to his attn and he said he doesn't look at the bids. It doesn't sit right with me, but I'm not going to make a big stink of it. As Commissioner of a couple of leagues, I would never put myself in that position even if I seem trustworthy for years.

Again, the league shouldn't be put in the position of having to deal with this if all doubt can be removed by doing the right thing and keeping the damn setting off unless you need it.

It's not about trustworthiness at all. As a commish, and also a competitor in the league, I don't want to even tempt the mere shadow of a doubtful thought in the event that I win a guy for a $27 bid over someone's $26 bid. No, I've never given anyone a reason to doubt my integrity. But why even let the possibility exist in anyone's mind? It's nonsensical to leave this setting off. Just make everyone feel better (including yourself) and do the right thing.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to mess with the setting to get my commish on in-season, and I've commished a couple dynasty leagues on MFL for 5+ years now. It's not a major inconvenience to be locked out as commish, period. Anyone arguing otherwise is either lazy, secretly cheating, or so thin-skinned and power-hungry that the mere mention of the setting being a concern offends them and makes them want to keep it wrong even more to be in control.

Every negative commish response posted in here is sad and complete bull####.

This. And to be honest I think it's mostly thin-skin and power hunger than anything.

It should be left off unless there is a reason.

I have had to turn it back on numerous times to do things for owners. Generally it would be obvious in the emails they'd get:

Commish turned Lockout off.
Franchise X accepts trade.
Commish turned Lockout on.

If it wasn't something that generated emails to the whole league, then I'd just shoot one out. "Tim asked me to put a player in his lineup."

Commish shouldn't be logged in unless there's a problem. There's zero reason for a commish to be logged in daily.
Yup as commish I never log in unless there is a specific function I need to do in season which is pretty much never unless someone needs help with something.

that said good advice but also agree it's not an indicator that someone is cheating but you should probably know.

with that said if a commish was cheating they would probably have it turned on,  turn it off to look then turn it back on (unless the league notifies teams of this I have no clue).

That's exactly the idea of it.  League gets an email whenever the feature is turned on or off.  So everyone knows if the commish is peeking.

Good to know.
