49ers | Lewis misses Week 7 Published Mon Oct 22 6:27:00 p.m. ET 2007

(KFFL) Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers SS Michael Lewis (hamstring) did not play in the team's Week 7 game. His status for Week 8 is uncertain.

I could of swore I saw him play yesterday

I realize he's not a big play machine, so I was hoping for lots of tackles.

I really expected more than 5 tackles and 2.5 assists per week.

Is this due to his nagging injuries?

Will the tackles reach 7 + 3?

I think there is enough sample to say no, especially with Willis in front of him.

If you're expecting more than 80 solos and 120 total tackles from anyone but the very best defensive backs, you're going to be disappointed more often than not. On average, only five DBs have made more than 80 solos since 2002. The 64 solo pace is a little disappointing, however, and could be related to a bunch of causes -- injury, Willis, improved defensive line play. He may bounce back a little in the second half if healthy, but he's clearly no better than a DB3 right now.
