Michael Turner - When is he goign to explode? (1 Viewer)

He'll explode like he did last year - when he plays a lousy defense at home.
Would you sit him for Cadillac Williams or WR Roddy White (Flex) ?
yes.not only does SF play good defense, the 49ers play a 3-4. turner struggles against the 3-4. if i could, i'd sit him for anyone. but i can't, so i'll roll with him.
This is why you don't ask these questions to anyone but qualified Assistant Coach posters.

He gets lots of carries and all the goal line touches. He might have some lousy weeks, but I'm not sure why you would ever bench him.

Could have used you this morning, mate. If I had put him in, I'd of had him and Roddy White together.

pretty sure roddy white outscored him in most formats.

Turner is averaging about 22 carries per game. Not many rb's get that kind of workload. And he gets all the goal line work.

This is what makes him a stud.

Sorry. I hope you at least played Ray Rice or someone like that.
I went with Moreno instead. Still won, but could always use the points.

And Caddy?

Does Turner still have the same burst?

Has the injury slowed him? I haven't actually gotten to see him play so I'm interested to see what Atlanta fans are seeing.

The clips from Atlanta that I see via Red Zone makes it look like he just barrels into the pile and hopes.... no explosion.

My RB's are A. Bradshaw, Mathews, Turner, Hillis, Torain... and honestly I'm having trouble in future weeks seeing how he can rank ahead of Hillis and Bradshaw

He definitely doesn't have the same burst but he's still pretty good. He looks big to me but that's just my untrained eye and not anything I've read or heard. He's almost morphing in to a version of The Bus but not quite as big. Atlanta wants a power running game so he fits the system well still. I will say that Snelling has looked more explosive this year and provides a good spark and gives Turner rest. Based on all that I would temper my expectations. He's still a lower teir RB1 in my opinion but he doesn't have a ton of upside (in particular in PPR).

The Silent Suckage continues his suckitude. What gives with this guy?
He's fat and slow. Didn't used to be, but two years running, he is.
There were preseason articles about how he trained all offseason at the Falcons' facility to get back in shape. Supposedly he lost weight and was in fantastic shape. Philly was up 21 points before Atlanta did anything. It wasn't like the Falcons could wear Philly down. They were playing catchup. Look at the game last week when Atlanta beat Cleveland. Close game, more carries, methodical Atlanta drives wearing down the defense, a 55 yard run. That really didn't seem to have a chance in the game against Philly.I wouldn't doubt better days are coming with the Bengals at home this coming week, and Carolina and Tampa to play each twice in the future, as well as New Orleans. I just purchased him for below his value and I'm being patient.

I haven't been able to watch too much falcons but I do have Turner in all three of my leagues :(

It seems that his biggest issue yesterday was getting down 21-0 in the blink of an eye. I don't expect much from any running game when that happens.

What I don't get is this - If the Falcons were down 21 points and playing catch-up mode, you would think the Eagles plan would be to cover the pass. Yet Turner had 15 carries for 45 yards. Wouldn't running against a pass defense be easier? 3.0YPC? WTF.

My bad for picking him in the first round, but I guess I didn't think it through... so far i've only started him twice and in one of those games he got hurt when snelling went off.

he's only had one game where i got decent points.

Definite waste of a pick.

Definitely one of the reasons it's sucky getting a LATE first round pick... i was 12 of 12 in one league and 9/10 in the other... Turner/Mathews and Moss/Mathews were the picks.

3 virtual busts amongst those picks. sweet!

watching the games, the Falcons aren't helping him with the playcalling. It seems like 90% of his runs come out of two TE, two back type sets, obvious running looks.

They don't look to be doing much disguising the plays with their formations - I still have yet to see them run the ball more than a handful of times out of a multiple WR set, and usually it's Snelling getting those carries rather than Turner. I see Turner getting hit in the backfield a bunch of times right after taking the handoff - when the Falcons go to those power formations to run the ball, defenses are just stacking the line and flying to the ball.

good info, thx

Yeah I need to stop starting this guy.
When I bench him he does great when I play him he sucks. After last week I was just going to put him in and ride the good with the bad. Now after this week I think it's Foster going in full time at my RB2 slot. Turner really isn't anything special at all. 1 TD all year? Wow great pick Cowha
