Michael Vick, Championship Game, Dogs (1 Viewer)

I am in the Championship Game in my big money league and I have made it there, by and large, on the merits of Michael Vick.

If I win, I am donating the proceeds to a no-kill dog shelter. I urge you to do the same!

Is this a joke?

I am in mine and I have vick. In one league I hit a speed bump week 1 of playoffs (90 pts w/ season avg around 140-- broke league record with 187 last week (after eliminated).

I'm guessing a lot of championship teams have vick on em.

In my other league I play vs Vick (gulp) in the finals w/rivers[playing]/roeth[sat]

I'm not. I'm keeping every penny if I win.

Im starting Vick. And I sure as #### am not donating my money.

I can compromise though. I'll use $20 of it to buy myself a nice Porterhouse and I'll give my dog the bone after I eat the steak

Be a tard and donate money to the humane society where less than 1% of the money actually goes to saving animals. I have Vick in the championship and I'll be keeping mine.

I got to the championship game the hard way...by drafting well.

The schmuck I'm playing hit the Vick lottery earlier in the year.

I beat the Vick owner in week 1 of playoffs so no donations for me

Ignoring the moral overtones of the OP to hi-jack the thread into a "Love love love me some Michael Vick" thread!

Absolutely amazing what he's doing this year... starting him is like being able to start a reliable, productive QB *and* a reliable, productive RB. I had him on my team when he was at Atlanta, and he could be productive, but you never knew what you were going to get. After losing a number of players early in the season to injury (Romo, Grant, Addai, Bush, etc), picking Vick up on waivers saved my season.

In my two leagues:

League 1. I have Vick going against Gerrard

League 2. I have Gerrard going against Vick

Kind of puts a little curve on what the heck I root for..lol

I am in my league championship game, I am starting Vick, and I am contributing my winnings to a bigger HDTV if I win out. Think about it this way man. Vick projected and fought those dogs out for his own benefits from gambling on them. Are we not doing the same with Vick and other FF players for our own potential financial benefit? I don't even think twice about it.

I have Vick in both of my championship teams.

My wife gives me hell for it, but if I win and get the $500 I think her complaints will stop.

Great idea, I did that last year with my championship money. Too bad I won't have it this year :hot:

"Add" button down?I like OP's idea and was already planning on doing the same (if I win), not sure why there's so much hate for dogs in here.

I cant believe they postponed it, they should have just moved it up to its originally scheduled time. It just so happens I am playing against Vick and Jackson in the championship game so it is not surprising that I think they should have gotten the game in.

I had no idea Gil Gerrard was a QB in the NFL.

Seems "Buck Rogers" knew what he was talking about back in the day...

(Yes I know it's spelled Gerard)

hey OP, how about giving credit where credit is due? ripping off an idea like it was your own.... This idea was actually in the matthew berry love/hate column the week. I thought it wasn't really a bad idea... although i doubt i will donate any money if i win my championship game on tuesday night.

With Vick involved in so many championship matchups, this reader e-mail struck a cord with me:Michael Heppler (Boston): I can only hope that my email reaches you in time to make an impact before everyone's Week 16 championships. You can go ahead and call me a bitter team owner who lost to a Michael Vick-lead team in the semi-finals, or you can call me someone who was inspired by the generous nature of the holiday spirit. Sorry, I am getting ahead of myself.Matthew Berry, I am writing to ask you to champion a cause that came to me when replying to an email from the manager of a Vick lead team who disposed of my 1st place team on his way to league finals. I challenged him to donate $10 of his Michael Vick-earned cash windfall to an animal rescue shelter.I implore you to reach out to readers to do the same. I can only imagine that if half of the managers of championship-Vick-led teams donated $10, we could help a lot of animals.TMR: Love. This. Idea. Look, I'm not going to get on a soapbox about Vick outside of football. That's not my place, that's not why you read me and it's been discussed multiple times by people much smarter than me. But I can tell you, whether you are in the "All is forgiven, he's paid his debt" camp or the "His crimes were so heinous they can never be forgiven or forgotten" camp, I think we can all agree on a few things:Courtesy of Matthew Berry"After Matthew adopted me, he got the job at ESPN. Coincidence or karma?"Animals are awesome. And there's nothing wrong with donating money to animal charities or shelters near where you live. If you've read me for any amount of time, you know I have a 14-pound "girly" dog named Macy that I love more than life itself. She's a mutt, and more importantly, she's a rescue. When I got this job, I moved to Connecticut in my mid-30s, single and not knowing one single person. I had no friends, only a few coworkers whom I knew and a lot of new responsibilities which, long story short, made for a lot of late nights at the office. And in those first few months, I might never have been more glad to have my dog. The holidays are a lonely time for a lot of people, and pets, specifically dogs, are wonderful companions for people and families of all sizes. I know none of this is particularly funny or about football, so I'll stop now except with this small plea. Give what you can, especially if you've managed to win a fantasy league this year. And even better, adopt a dog. For those who claim they're too busy or wouldn't be a good "parent," I promise you, whatever life you give that dog will be better than the one they have at an overcrowded, understaffed shelter. Thanks for the idea, Michael.

Not to hi-jack this thread but, if any of you Vick owners are down in the Championship game, what do you need to win? Im in a standard scoring league and need 18 points. GO VICK!!!!!!
