Mike Brown (1 Viewer)

I think his value takes a big hit with Archuleta going to the Bears .Brown will play free safety and will not get the tackle numbers to justify a higher ranking. He also is coming off a major injury, and has only played 20 games in the last 3 seasons.

our very own FBGs have Brown and Manning at strong and free (respectively). Archuleta is done, and has been for a while

Oops. I think the FBG depth chart alignment is new; at least, I hadn't noticed it before.I think it's generally thought that Archuleta will get the bulk of the snaps at SS and Brown will play FS. That's what was happening in OTAs anyway.

Chicago Sun-Times

WELCOME BACK: Saying he was all the way back, veteran safety Mike Brown was on the field and got a few snaps with the first team. He had surgery to repair a torn Lisfranc ligament in October, and there was concern he might not be ready for the start of the season.

''I was out here,'' he said. ''They wouldn't have had me out there if I wasn't all the way back. So, yes, I'm all the way back."

Brown will be worked in slowly, with the ultimate plan being to have him at free safety with newcomer Adam Archuleta at strong safety. That's why Danieal Manning was getting reps at cornerback.
For my part, like lions327, I have a hard time ranking Brown in the top 60. Archuleta is going to play a lot -- he's not done BTW and you'll see him play much better when he's used to his strengths -- whether he's the starting SS or not. The Bears may play more three deep coverage than Tampa-2 this year with Archuleta's coverage deficiencies and Brown will get stuck in the deep middle role. Couple that with two very serious lower leg injuries and Brown is a tough sell for boxscore production.I'll let Bob know about the Bear plans at safety.

Call me contrarian, but Mike Brown is a difference maker on the Bears D and frankly, they know it ... its not like they will have him sitting on the bench ...

Brown has a history of scoring well even at FS.

I would not trade Brown for any of these guys (from current FBG dynasty rankings) ...

Don't be fooled by Mike Brown

look at his career, and you'll find there are a ton of better options.

He has a habit of scoring TD's, thus getting on the highlite shows. He can't stay healthy of late, and he's getting older (like the rest of us). I'd rather roll the dice with potential then deal with Brown. Heck, if i'm wrong with my targeted "potential", then i'll add one of the 25 Waiver Wire DBs after week 1.

I agree with you %100. Mike Brown is a play maker and he can acquired for basically nothing. It doesn't really concern me that he could get injuried again because my league has a wavier wire and I know how to use it. When he does start, he has been money.

Brown and Archuleta will start. Brown is a playmaker, he just has a nose for the ball, and he is the QB in that d-backfield. That doesn't always translate in fantasy, but if he's healthy, he'll be starting. Archuleta is more of steal b/c he's likely to have better fantasy stats and outside Chicago, people seem to not know he'll be a starter. D.Manning will be fifth DB (Tillman, Vasher, and R.Manning being the top three corners), probably spelling Brown the most to try to keep him healthy, or moving ahead of R.Manning if he starts to gamble too much.
