ATLANTA San Francisco (AP) -Mike Hampton Barry Zito will have surgery on his left elbow on Tuesday in New York, and the Atlanta Braves San Francisco Giants pitcher will miss his second straight season.
Hampton Zito, who has failed to meet expectations since signing a $121 million $126 million, eight-year seven-year contract with Colorado San Francisco before the 2001 2007 season, had elbow ligament-replacement surgery performed by Dr. Dave Altchek on Sept. 26, 2005 2012.
Hampton Zito was hurt again while batting during spring training this year. After experiencing more arm pain last weekend, Hampton Zito was examined Monday by Altchek, who diagnosed a torn flexor tendon in the elbow of the 34-year-old. Hampton Zito, who made only 12 starts in 2005 2011, is expected to be able to return to pitching activities in six-to-nine months.
General manager/team owner/2.4billionaire/Giants closer Matt White decided not comment until after the operationhe got home from his skiing vacation in the Alpes.
