Mistake trade offer? What would you do? (1 Viewer)

Hi all

I offered Forte/Bowe for Garcon/McCoy.

It was rejected and he countered with Bradshaw and his reasoning.

However somehow a minute before the counter, he sent back the same original trade offer.

Is it wrong to accept? Right or wrong what would u do.

Last year something similar happened (accepted an offer by mistake) to me and after pleading my case the commish said the trade would stand.

Thanks!

Commish probably shouldn't overturn it, but I wouldn't personally accept a trade that was made or accepted by mistake.

I believe in fantasy karma.

You should do the right thing.

If you need more convincing. If these are guys you play with each year consider the good will you will have earned by acknowledging the mistake and handling it properly. It can go a long way in future trade activities. Nobody wants to deal with the guy who took advantage of a clear mistake by another owner.

I am with you and I will not accept. same guys 8 years running. My only hangup is the fact that this is a pretty ruthless bunch who had no problem when it happened to me. Regardless I want to hear others would do.Thanks again

Sounds like you're in a league with a bunch of #######s.

We went through a little bout of this a few years ago with guys walking back on trades during a review period; our new rule states that once the trade offer reaches our commish, it is binding and will only be walked back if there is a better offer or it is being disallowed. We have a 48-hour period that allows everyone to see a trade proposal and possibly get in on the deal; it is a little clunky but it stops a lot of #####ing.

Had a similar problem yesterday. Guy offered me AP, Welker and Decker for Julio, Blackmon and Chicago. I told him that was unfair for him. I kinda regret not taking it though.

How is this a question? Just ask the guy if he meant to send the offer. "Problem" solved.
Well I know he didn't mean it. That's the point. Would you all do it anyway. In the meantime I rejected and sent a note. I was/am interested in what others would do. Especially the "sharks" :hophead:

That is horrible. It allows one guy to do all the hard work and negotiating, and then 10 other guys to jump in and beat the originally accepted offer if they want. Horrible.

Only way you should accept is if this happens to be the same ##### that made your mistake stand last year...

Do you really need to ask us, given the bolded above?

If the said owner in question is the one who did it to you then I would jump on it in a heartbeat. but otherwise no i would ask him what his intentions were before i accepted either.

I think all trade proposals should have a confirmation on league message board to firm up the deal. Until both parties have confirmed the trade on message board it is still only a trade offer to me.

I got in trouble for backing out of a trade offer I made that was accepted by the other party but I nixed before the confirmation. Some times I make too many offers and they are not always firm for me especially when I am spit balling.

Accept the first offer. Just so our can magnanimously make the adjustment to the real offer just get league credibility credit that you did he right thing.

So you've been on the receiving end of a mistaken trade offer...twice? I tend to go with the intent but then I'm not in any cutthroat or exorbitant money leagues.

I do not disagree but it put an end to secretive/collusive trades that were popping up.

Maybe you need to join leagues with more trustworthy owners? Or at least heavily punish collusive behavior.

When I was on my honeymoon several years ago the resort had an extremely spotty internet connection and, in my haste, I ended up accepting a trade that I would never have accepted, in a million years, under normal circumstances. I never got around to actually realizing what happened until a week later when I got home.

I made a production of it, but my trade partner had made a subsequent trade with a player acquired in our trade that made it unreasonable to expect a reversal.

In the end, the trade ended up actually working out really well for my team. And, the incident has really shaped my views on trades in FF; in that, things are not always as unfair as they seem.

I doubt this helps your dilemma any, but it seemed appropriate to mention.
