MLB has no love for the RAYS (1 Viewer)

Why does MLB put the Rays/Rangers at 1:37 PM Eastern and the Twins/Yankees at 8:37. For a franchise that already has an attendance issue the Rays would be better suited playing at 8:37 so the working people can make it to the game. How many people can afford to take the day or 1/2 day off work to go watch the Rays game in this economy. We are already plagued by averaging about 22K for the season. Twinkies have much more loyal and die-hard fans and they would have no issues with attendance so a 1:37 start would of suited them better.

Um, both games are already sold out.

Anybody who thought the Rays would be playing the primetime series while the Yankees were an option is a fool.

I looked at the schedule last week for the days and took the time off work. I knew there was zero chance of them playing a night game.

No, there are tons of tickets still available.

No, there's not. I don't know where you continue to get your incorrect info from, but if you go to ticketmaster right now, it will tell you in big bold letters that tickets are not available for either game. The Rays, the Tampa Tribune, the St. Pete Times and Espn have also all announced that the games are sold out. But feel free to keep singing your song.

You do realize that teams hold tickets for games like this for various promotions (usually season-tickets for the next year) and then release them as the game draws near, don't you? You seem to fancy yourself an expert on this sort of topic, so surely you must've known that. Anyways,
The Rays just announced that the first two division series games at Tropicana Field sold-out today. The tickets were purchased by season-ticket holders, those who joined the new Playoff Access Club and those who won the right to buy tickets through raysbaseball.com.
Argue semantics all you want, doesn't really matter to me.

It does seem that there are a bunch of Ray's tickets available.

If you go to buy tickets for all the other series, they either say "single tickets only" (Giants-Braves) or there is only a registration option for later posteason tickets.

You go to the Rays-Rangers and there are tickets available for a few different price sections.

Or you can be a ##### about it, either way. If you can buy tickets they aren't sold out. Or is that semantics?

The Rays had two promotions for playoff tickets. One was where you could pay a hundred dollars to guarantee the right to buy tickets, thus avoiding the lottery. The other was where you could put money towards 2011 season tickets, and get playoff tickets for this year.I imagine that those tickets that you see are tickets that were freed up from those two promotions. I'm not sure how that's a knock on this area that scooped up 70,000+ tickets in 2 hours, but have at it I guess. As long as the Rays win the series, you can say whatever the hell you want.

In the same area with some (not most) shared parking. Arlington generally restricts traffic flows one way or another before and after games which makes the traffic okay, but any crossing between the two is going to be a nightmare. No public transportation in Arlington.

There's a college football game on Saturday as well. This happens from time to time and seems to run fairly smoothly.

Rangers/Rays on Sunday is starting at Noon local time. 3 hours before Dallas/Tenn. I just know that I'm staying away from Arlington this weekend.

Man, you ladies are like a sewing circle with this.

More tickets available at 11

A couple hundred additional tickets to Games 1 and 2 at Tropicana Field are expected to be made available as soon as 11 a.m. through all outlets - Tropicana Field box office and Tampa team store, raysbaseball.com and Ticketmaster. The tickets were returned by MLB and other teams. The Rays sold out all tickets last week.
Even though those tickets weren't originally made available, the fanbase still should have bought them, even though they couldn't, because that's what real fans, like the Rangers fans woulda done. :lmao:

Sounds like a pretend sellout to me. Time for rays to move to a real city, not a city people go to die.

I don't know anything about the ticket business except

1) Go to the site of the event first

2) Stub Hub 2nd

3) scalpers around the stadium when you get desparate

All I know is that three times today I logged onto Tampa's site asked for best available and was able to get 2 club level food and drink included tickets. I can only buy single seat tickets for ALDS on the rangers site.

Right, let's do our best to accomodate the fans that don't even show up for the games.

You can be certain there will be a world record number of Flat Screens in that parking lot with the game on that day. I'm sure you can find one next to you. Jerry World might be 25% full at kickoff if the Rangers/Rays go long.

Add on Arkansas fans traveling to Texas A&M.

Culdeus - Congrats on your win today.

I counted 53 fans in Red or Royal. What happened to 'more than a smattering'?

Ranger Fans in the stands today were asked by Rays fans around them if they wanted to buy their tickets to Game 2.

Does this fanbase call it a season already?

Rangers fans (not just on the internet) making fun of Rays fans is hilarious. The team who is always in the 2nd half of average attendance, in the 4th biggest metro area in the U.S. ool

The best part is this culdeus guy thinking Dallas could support a 2nd team. The Rangers drew 24,000 in 2008, 27 in 2009 and 31k this year, despite being in the aforementioned major Dallas metro area. Myopia makes me cry.

Bogart, no offense, I've known you back to your rotojunkie days. Your team just won it's second postseason game in 40 ####ing years. Don't start acting like a doosh now. It's unbecoming.

If MLB moves a Florida team Dallas makes as much sense as anywhere. The Rangers are Fort Worth's team. Always have been. It takes less time to get to Oklahoma than the BPIA for much of what white people in Dallas call home. A downtown team has always made sense, and the town certainly can support it. The fact that this area refused to support Hicks' tenure can be counted against it, but only to a degree. Cuban is about the only guy that can get this done.

Honestly, I love that you actually think this is possible. :goodposting:I also love that you make the location excuse for the Rangers, but then blow it off for the Rays, despite just about every intelligent observer saying the Rays have the worst stadium location in baseball. Stay myopic, my friend. :loco:

Yea, the thread where people continue to piss on my area? Tough #### if you don't like me responding to some guy thinking the Dallas area can support a second team, where they have hardly supported the first to any sort of league average. I'm just pointing out the way it is.

That wasn't even posted in this thread... That was in the rangers team thread. Even at that you have taken it totally out of context. It's more like an idea a guy throws around while having beers with his friends, not a business plan to bring a 2nd team to Dallas. Lol you're pathetic.

Uh, wha? 10 posts up, hombre
We'll come around on this team when they move to Dowtown Dallas.
