Why does MLB put the Rays/Rangers at 1:37 PM Eastern and the Twins/Yankees at 8:37. For a franchise that already has an attendance issue the Rays would be better suited playing at 8:37 so the working people can make it to the game. How many people can afford to take the day or 1/2 day off work to go watch the Rays game in this economy. We are already plagued by averaging about 22K for the season. Twinkies have much more loyal and die-hard fans and they would have no issues with attendance so a 1:37 start would of suited them better.
Probably because half of the Rays' fanbase is comatose by 8:37pm? 1:30 is ideal - game over in time for the Early Bird dinner.

I think most hardcore baseball fans would rather watch Tampa/Texas, than Minn/NY...by a pretty good margin. But the general viewing public and sheer number of folks in the NY/NJ area make it an easy call for MLB. It sucks, and it is stupid, as in theory the best game would be in prime-time, but money is god to the people in charge.

Well thank god those first two didn't get a good placement, those games were dogs. At least NYY Minny had some turns and drama along the way.
