Mo Jones Drew (1 Viewer)

Can you start this guy with confidence knowing he only gets about 10ish carries per game, along with a few receptions?

His numbers are fantastic given his limited number of touches while splitting time with Fred T. He's shown an ability to break big plays every week, and even run with power at the goal line. You would think that given his role in the offense, his fantasy points per week would be very inconsistent, but in fact, the opposite has been true.

Points per week since week 3 (only 2 rushes in weeks 1 and 2)...

Week 3: 25.5

Week 4: 13.1

Week 5: 17.9

Week 6: Bye

Week 7: 16.3

Week 8: 10.2

Week 9: 9.5

The above is good for RB20 in my league's format (0.5 pts RB PPR, 6 pts TD, 1 pt 10 yards), and an average RB2 in a 12 team league. If you apply his avg pts per week (from weeks 3 through 9) to weeks 1 and 2, he almost cracks the Top 10.

Finally, MJD's points per touch ratio is above 1.0 (95 points divided by 91 total touches this year). The ONLY other RB in the league with a points per touch ratio above 1.0 is LaDainian. Fairly impressive for a rookie.

Do you think MJD's points per touch will revert to more normal levels in the coming weeks as the sample size grows (i.e. a couple weeks without any huge gainers or TDs)? Or are you of the mindset that this kid is something special?

Nearly every time I see him play I go "wow".

Because of that, I don't think he'll revert back to the norm. I think he'll be an elite RB in this league next year.

that PPG decline is interesting though...

Can you provide a longer listing of points per touch? This seems like a very quality stat... would like to see.

It is really impressive... but if we set a minimum of 50 touches... aren't Marion Barber III and Brian Westbrook "point/touch" ratio above Maurice Drew and LT also?...MB III (86/70)BWest (151/135)LT (218/207)MoD (95/91)Or am I missing some part in the calculations?surely not wanting to disregard MoDrew's accomplishments - I'm just trying to figure out if I do this correctly... since I'm looking at some impressive WR numbers also (Colston / CJackson / Walker / etc.)

Edge has 98 total points with 212 total touches = 0.46

And I just noticed an error in my original post -- Westbrook is at 1.2 along with LT2 and MJD.

Correct. I miscalculated Westbrook, and neglected to calculate MBIII. I only spotchecked the RBs in the top 25 or so.Still impressive for MJD, nonetheless.

I've started M.J.D the last 3 weeks, and he hasn't posted over 10 pts. Scored less than 5 the last two....

I'm not sure I can start him over Stallworth, A-Trizzle or even Jamal Lewis

PPR?

For those who have seen him play a few times...

How's he looking in the Yards After Contact department? Is he going down quickly due to his size or is this not a factor?

7 and 9 the last two weeks according to standard non-PPG scoring - you must have unusual scoring rules, so you need to temper your readings of these threads to understand that we are usually referencing standard performance scoring.Your mileage varies.

Opposite - you have obviouslky never watched him play.I've never seen a dwarf fall forward the body length of a giant the way M J-D does.

I've only see Jag highlights this year. Haven't see a full game start to finish. I saw him a ton in college and was impressed but you never know how the smallish guys will translate to the NFL. So you think he can eventually be a full time RB? The guy is definetly built like a bowling ball.

Yes, he can be a fulltime starter, but I don't thin the Jagfs will use him that way - they still have Greg Jones coming back next year and they used Pearman more when Taylor was injured a couple weeks ago.

He'll never be a 30 touch guy on the Jags b/c that is not how they do things, but he only needs about 20 to be a fantasy star.

Would you say James Brooks is a fair comparasion to his upside?

I really like this kid. I believe he will be the main guy in Jacksonville next year. What is the status of Greg Jones' contract? How about Fred Taylor? He seemed partial to retiring after Tiki announced it. Regardless, I'm going after this guy in my semi-dynasty league.
