Mobile Alerts (1 Viewer)

I work 14-15 hours a day and can get to a computer on occasion, but it's spotty to try and keep up with breaking news. I was wondering if anyone out there gets mobile alerts and if so is it timely? Is it worth it? Who has the best, most up to date and efficient alerts?

As long as you subscribe here and and you have a cell phone that can recieve email as a text message (nearly every phone sold in the last 3-5 years go do this, and all the major US carriers wil give you an email address for your phone for free, you often just either have to sign up online or ask them for it).

Create a rule with your email client. - I do mine with gmail. Any email sent rom a footballguys.com email address that has the word "breaking" in the subject, I have it fwd'd to my phone. :nerd:

ESPN Mobile.
ding ding ding. if you have mobile espn, and have your league(s) hosted through espn, you can get instant player alerts on your fantasy players and manage your team from anywhere (drop-add, start-bench, etc.). for fantasy, it kicks ####. you can be in church on sunday a.m. and make a roster move. sweet.

Last year I actually suggested that FOOTBALLGUYS add an option for subscribers to have a second e-mail (or text message number) that Breaking News alerts could be sent to. They said they would think about it.

Now I have a T-Mobile Sidekick II with unlimited internet, text messaging, e-mail, etc.; that allows me to check e-mail on up to 3 POP e-mail accounts. So I set it up to check the e-mail address I am subscribed with and leave the messages on the server. That way I get the Breaking News if I am away from my computer or not. The Sidekick is also nice in that I can access my Yahoo Fantasy Football team and make lineup changes if I need to.

Can you explain how to do this through gmail?

I do this same thing with my email server... I usually have it send to my phone and work email.

Ok, I've got an unlimited smartphone Internets plan with Cingular but can't seem to find any way to access their medianet stuff because I have M$ mobile software and a real browser instead of the Cingular software with their custom 'MediaNet' icon. The customer support was surprisingly uninformed, , and I didn't have time to sit on hold for 'medianet support or something'. Has anybody gotten to the medianet content with a smartphone as opposed to one of the flip phones?
