Mohamed Massaquoi (1 Viewer)

Thoughts/projections for MoMass this season? He looks to be Weeden's go to WR and has posted a solid 8/131/0 over the first 2 weeks of the season. Reports out of Cleveland say he looks great this season and is consistently getting separation.

Could he end up a decent fantasy WR3 and post his first 1000 yard season?

Mass hasn't been well liked around here. I kind of do. He's annoying(for FF) with a decent game then grrr like many young WRs do; the drops too. Little isn't all that different for FF.

As far as I'm concerned, Holmgren and Co want a 300 yard passer more than anything on offense, so I've got one of those two on my FF teams.

I figure what you want in a young WR is there, now it's waiting for them to produce.

I don't think Mass is Weeden's boy just yet. Little has a knack for some tough grabs when times get tough (can't tell from stats, but some of his yuck games last year when McCoy threw for 150-200 were him making big grabs for like 3 for 40 yards). I feel like it's going to be both and not a clear one Weeden focuses on.

I won't be starting Mass this week after a good week last week. (Haven't been to PFR) From memory, I doubt he's had two fine games in a row.

McCoy would have been a fine QB (definitely the guy he was in college and as a rook) to lean on Richardson and have the QB throw some tough throws but little else, like Dilfer, Simms, or Rypien years ago. That T.O.P. clock control doesn't seem to be what they want. Weeden's a nice dynasty QB but can't roll with him in redraft til those WRs perform well on a regular basis.

Brown rule of thumb is never to get too excited over a Bengals game also

Mo-Mass has the trust of Weeden which has been an extension of training camp and preseason where they developed a chemistry.

The key thing different with Massaquoi is Weeden is getting him the ball 'in-stride' and that is precisely what the WCO (West Coast Offense) is all about.

A QB has to have the trust of his WRs so when he does a quick drop and is throwing to a spot he knows his WR will be on the same page with his read and will be at the proper spot where he can hit him 'in-stride' so the WR can rack up some YAC (Yards After Catch), that is the whole basis of the WCO.

Weeden doesn't have that same trust or chemistry built with any other WR.

It comes in flashes with Little, it appeared as though he had started to build trust and chemistry with rookie fourth round WR Travis Benjamin but Benji has a slight frame and is a rookie so he doesn't so things like come-back for deep balls which is his only shot to see the field other than on reverses.

The issue with Mohammed Massaquoi is consussions. He has had them over his career and even had one on his very first catch this preseason so every time I see him going for a ball I cringe however the way the ball is coming out of Weeden's hand and how Mo is running routes and getting the ball 'in-stride' he has had angles on DBs so he hasn't been taking those huge kill shots that he has taken in the past.

Right now the trust and chemistry is humming between Weeden and Massaquoi. Mohammed has flashed in the past but this time it is different due to him getting the ball 'in-stride' and that is the key.

I still can't quite trust his long-term health but he probably is a good second WR play right now while he's healthy.

He's not a good player, but the rest of the kids on the roster are too raw so Weeden doesn't trust them on their routes, especially if the play breaks down.

He's desperation start worthy only, so it has to be a deep league to consider rostering him.

I thought Massaquoi was playing very well at the beginning of the season. He's now lost in the shuffle behind the young guns- T Benj, Gordon, & Little.

Curious if anyone thinks there is value here for 2013? He is a free agent, but does he have what it takes to latch on to a starting job somewhere? Seems like a place like Miami would work???

Sounds like Chilly says he wants to get Mass more involved??

Other than a game or 2 through 4 years, I have seen nothing from him that indicates he will ever be anything more than a backup wr. I know that cleveland is not a team productive enough for any wr to blossom. But he has had a lot of opportunity to establish himself as a quality wideout and has not even come close to doing it.

He finally gets it this year and now returns from injury and doesn't get playing time. This is the Browns! It's what they do.He looked real good early in the season as a starter. He comes back to get 16 snaps? CmonNow we'll wait for the young guys to develop again. It's a horrible wicked cycle.Bet he walks and makes some $ as free agent, having taken his lumps in Cleveland with them never reaping the rewards but two games to start the year.Gordon, Benjamin...yep look good and play sporadically well just like young Mass.Greg catches Little drops more looks like he has skills and has played a lot for two years now. Watch him get replaced in 2013 for some rook.Browns are incredible at not improving

In 2013, I would guess he's WR3 somewhere, starter due to injury or performance by years end. 700-750 yards is an average starter. IMO He can do that with 16 starts. He pulls muscles, strains etc too often and prob needs the attention of a new trainer too. I don't know about predictions. I think on most FF teams adding a meh starter can help in offseason. No glowing praise here, just think he's better than the Browns let him be.

Browns' Mohamed Massaquoi out

Updated: September 26, 2012, 6:42 PM ET

... Massaquoi will miss Thursday night's game against the Ravens with an injured hamstring. Massaquoi, who was off to a strong start this season, strained his left hamstring in the second half of Sunday's loss to Buffalo and did not practice the past two days. Before leaving for Baltimore on Wednesday, the Browns reported Massaquoi is out, meaning rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden won't have his top wide receiver against the Ravens

Massaquoi has nine catches for a team-high 145 yards and has developed a nice chemistry with Weeden...

CLEVELAND -- Browns wide receivers Mohamed Massaquoi and Travis Benjamin will miss Cleveland's game Sunday against the New York Giants because of hamstring injuries ...

... the Browns' wide receiving corps has been thinned by injuries. Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring), Travis Benjamin (hamstring) and Jordan Norwood (foot) all remain sidelined.
When Mo and others went down it opened the door for WR Josh Gordon and he blew up. Also the Browns called up FA WR Josh Cooper from the practice squad and he was very effective in the slot moving the chains just as WR Greg Little suddenly began to catch balls.Massaquoi came back but his role has changed. At the begining of the season he was the only guy catching balls, Gordon hadn't developed into a deep threat, G-Little was totally unrelieable, Josh Cooper was on the practice squad and Mo was healthy and had a working chemistry that had carried over from training camp with Weeden.

Now he hasn't worked and developed with Weeden so that timing is off and others have developed.

Mo is a gimp puppy. He always has gotten injured and its the same ole story this year.

Lately

Cooper hasn't been involved in game plan for a few weeks now and inactive.today

Rotoworld reporting Mass' hammy now finally healthy...should be interesting to see how targets are split
