MINNETONKA, Minn. - A 55-year-old mother is charged with second-degree DWI after blowing a 0.23 after dropping her kids off at school. 

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to Scenic Heights Elementary School around 8 a.m. last Friday on a report of an impaired driver who just dropped her children off. Witnesses told police the woman was swaying and had glossy eyes.

An officer pulled over the woman, identified as Kelly Ann Belanger, and asked her to roll down her window. The police report states she was having trouble with that command and kept locking and unlocking the door before she was able to find the control to roll down the window.

A 55 year old woman has elementary school aged kids, meaning she birthed them at 43 years of age or older.  I would guess she needs a drink or two from time to time.

If she had the drink two hours before school started, as she claimed, that is one hell of an early morning drinker.

No kidding. In my 20s I went to work many times drunk. Not because I woke up and hit the bottle, but bc I drank so much the night before I woke up still drunk.

I'd guess she's lived her life mostly functional but almost never sober. No excuse for the danger she inflicted, but probably some pretty sad stuff in the background.

That elementary school is like 4 minutes from my house. Lots of parents open enroll their kids there - it's considered a very good school. The parents are correspondingly helicopterish.
