Moore to S. Smith? (1 Viewer)

A pile of cr*p is what you can expect. Do not start Smith for the rest of the year and pray that Delhomme comes back healthy next year. The Carolina offense is horrific with any of the current QB options they have.

Moore is an obvious improvement over David "Mr. Mittens" Carr and has a stronger arm than the 44 year old Testaverde.

I'd call it a very marginal upgrade. Besides, things can't get any worse than what they've been already.

Sad but true.
Yup. The good news for Smith owners in PPR leagues is his receptions have been much better the past month. He's averaged 6 receptions a game in his last four games and has had at least 5 in every game. The bad news is he hasn't scored since Week 6 and he hasn't gotten more than 64 yards in a game since Week 6. It's really shocking that he hasn't had at least one TD or one strong game in so long. Look at the Falcons' WRs as an example. They've played with three QBs - all bad - and Roddy White is having a huge season and Jenkins has had some huge games. And yet Smith, who in my opinion is considerably more talented than either of them, hasn't sniffed a big game in over two months. You'd think just sheer luck would result in a big game at some point but it hasn't happened. The painful irony for Smith owners is a Carolina WR has had one big game in the last two months but it came in the one game Smith missed - when Drew Carter went off in the loss to the Packers. At the very best, Smith is a marginal WR3 in PPR leagues. I think he'll be good for at least 5 receptions and 45+ yards. There really seems to be no chance anymore he'll score a touchdown so I don't see any upside with him at all. He's kind of become what Joe Jurevicius has been most of this season - a steady source for receptions with limited yardage and very minimal chance to score. How sad is that?

I tend to lean more into this notion than one of complete and utter despair. However, if the pressure getting to Moore is so intense, I want to change my vote back to complete and utter despair.

Seattle will completely remove him from the game the same way they did in the NFC Championship game. They have a better secondary now than then and Carolina has zero weapons. Whoever is back there will be under constant pressure and the way the D is taking the ball away, well it doesnt look pretty. I'm so glad I wasted a 2nd round pick on a guy that's sat my bench for the last 5 weeks. OTOH, Welker and Holmes make nice substitutes. But Smith sees the pine because there is little hope for Smith to get anything but lucky on a busted play.

I don't even think that can happen at this point. He hasn't scored in over two months. He's faced good defenses and bad and he hasn't even lucked into a touchdown or broken play. I agree Seattle's CBs are better than last season and they will make things tough on Smith. Again, I think his only value is as a marginal WR3 in PPR leagues since I think he'll be good for at least 5-6 receptions. But there's zero upside for him because the yardage won't be there and there's a better chance of me nailing the chick in my avatar then there is of Smith scoring again this season.

I think Dehlomme has a better chance start and throwing with his left arm... I gave up on Steve Smith this week and finally dropped him in two leagues. The offense has no support.

me too...TWICE. good thing I have er...um, Marvin Harrison, A Boldin and DJ Hackett. Going to the Waiver Wire for TWO WR in semifinal week...NICE. Gaffney? A.Gonzolez? Cotchery?...cripes.

I think Smith's outlook isn't NEARLY as gloom and doom as most of you think. Moore is NOT David Carr. He'll stand in the pocket and look for Smith. He has a pretty strong arm. And the Panthers have been getting Smith more involved, whether its runs, screens, and moving him all over the field. He hasn't set the world on fire this year once Delhomme went out, but I'd rather trust him this weekend then a flavor of the week waiver pickup.

It's not Moore to S Smith, It's Moore to M Trufant.
I don't see any reason to leave Lofa off the wish list. Or Peterson. That's assuming Kerney and Tapp give him time to throw.I'm calling for another 3-4 picks and 4-5 sacks.Less than 100 yards rushing and 200 yards passing for the Panthers.34-10 Seattle, Smith finishes with 5 catches (3 at or near LoS) for 43 yards.

Can't they just line up Smith behind center? He's fast enough to throw a deep ball to himself and he knows where he'll be.

8 catches for 72 yards against a very solid D. Like i said, too much doom and gloom about Smith on here. And for those that didn't watch the game, Moore was very solid. He has a quick release, and doesn't play scared like Carr. He should remain the starter for the rest of the season. A total of 13 targets (including a few runs) for Smith too.

me too. 15 pts in a ppr is servicable.

Yup. Nothing wrong with 8 receptions. It'd be nice if maybe someday Smith scored a touchdown again but in a PPR league Smith definitely rewarded his owners who started him as a WR3 today.
