More Americans would vote for a Muslim than for an atheist (1 Viewer)

they could be fascist anarchists for all I care. it still doesn't change the fact that I don't own a car.

Jayrod, you're one of the more openly religious people in this forum. Would you hesitate to vote for an atheist, if he or she shared your political viewpoint?
Since I doubt the majority of politicians are actually practicing Christians, yes. But I'd be shocked to find an open atheist who is also pro-life.
That's interesting. I've never thought of it before, but I don't know why an atheist couldn't be pro-life.
I guess, I see atheism is generally a liberal mindset and that goes hand in hand with being pro-choice...usually.
I would venture to guess a large percentage of atheists are fiscally conservative, socially liberal.

This is me, except I'm agnostic.
Interesting that an argument that should be about the origins/sanctity/viability/consciousness of human life in the womb, is swayed more by attitudes about human sexual behavior....we really are stupid self centered beings who believe what we want to believe and then back into the rationalization...

So uh Romney was Mormon, right? The number for Mormons is 18%. Does that mean that prejudice / discrimination kept Romney out of the White House?
I wrote up a chain email about Mormonism from the perspective of a fundamentalist Christian that I was planning to send out a month before the 2012 election to undermine Romney and his claims that he was some type of normal Christian. I did extensive research that included reading the Book of Mormon and various other books about Mormonism. I knew that fundamentalist Christians would be shocked at what Mormons actually believe. I really think it could have gone viral and may have affected the election results. Thankfully, Romney made his 47% comment when I was in the midst of writing the email, so I never had to resort to such measures.

I think the political parties should do their best to keep you happy by the sound of it.

I always wondered who wrote those things.

I really think it could have gone straight into spam boxes everywhere and lost me a ton of friends. Thankfully, Romney made his 47% comment when I was in the midst of writing the email, so I never had to publicly announce my weird views and abnormal passion regarding the 2012 election.
Just helping out. :P
