More Mocking of Rodgers TD dance (1 Viewer)

dont think state farm even exists up here in canada, but we get the commercials for it.

i laughed.

i also find it amazing how ugly rodgers looks with a helmet on.. yet with it off, he looks fairly good, for a guy.

seriously, with a helmet on, he looks like quasimodo

Some ads are funny enough that I don't mind getting bombarded with them over and over. The first one was pretty good but not great. Even as a packers fan this one merely made me smile. I feel like between a move that references WWF and a NT doing the hula it should have been funnier. Not terrible but they are probably going to totally wear it out in the playoffs.

Edit: FWIW I think just about all of the "sing a jingle to summon a State Farm agent" ads were a lot funnier than either if these.

OK, now that's bordering on...ah. forget it.What are your thoughts about him bare chested and in a towel?

that one sucked, but the first i STILL laugh at every time I see it. Plus the girl gives Rodgers some pretty hot looks

Let me guess, you are from eastern canada..

I always thought that his dance was feminine and uncool. he was qb for the super bowl winner and the masses seem to like it, so whatever. I try to ignore it. I have no personal issues with Green Bay either, sorta like them.

Never been a fan of Rodgers' TD celebration. Although it is fitting since he is the current Superbowl champ, it just seems silly.. You don't see many QB's with a premeditated TD celebration. And you'd think he'd mix it up some as well.. Nope, same thing, every time.. I wonder if he'll try something else next season if they don't win it all again..

I actually like this one even better than the first. I think it is a funny enough joke to play off of a couple of times and bringing Raji in definitely adds to that.

It's only fair to point out that he only did it once or twice this whole year. First rushing TD against Denver is the only one I remember for sure. The second one was not ruled a TD on the field and the KC TD they were losing in the 4th when he scored it. I didn't catch the Chargers game and I know he had some nice runs in that game, maybe he did it in that one.

I've always found these commercials stupid because the premise that there are people in Green Bay who don't know Aaron Rodgers is itself utterly stupid.

Dumb question, but was does "SMH" mean?
shake my headI thought the first one was funny. Now it's played to death. Second one was never funny.
I always thought it stood for "So much hate". Learn something new everyday. So how do these people know who BJ Raji is, but don't know who Aaron Rodgers is?

Thing is...he does not really do it all that often anymore. His TD pass celebration is more of a jumping fist pump.

Yea, maybe not, I don't watch all the games.. (I expect you probably do).. But seeing it one time was too much for me really.. I would certainly understand if some Packers fans are embarrassed when he does that.. Reminds me a little of that nonsense "professional" wrestlers do..

When you know the story behind what he does and why he does it...its not embarrassing at all to most Packer fans.Im more embarrassed for the fools that try mocking him when they end up losing.

Started it in the days Favre was around to lighten up practices on the scout team.Things got stale and so he and a few others would goof off when they did well.

Also lots of stories about how some of the vets did not necessarily like how the scout team was actually doing well at times.

Just something that fueled him...while some did not appreciate the effort the scout team was giving...most appreciated what he was bringing to the table.

The teammates love the belt thing.

Most fans do too. And its become pretty rare for him to even do it anymore anyway.

He kind of laughs it off when people talk about how big it became.

Also heard him say he has something else, but have not seen anything new just yet from him this year.

Not the deep sentiment I was expecting.. I thought you were going to say he was doing it for his kids, or a lost friend/family member or something..

Meh.. I still think it's a bit juvenile.. A bit like seeing a couch do a choreographed celebration.. You kinda expect them to be above such things..

The second commercial is pretty funny though. I like it much better than the first one..

Well...he does not have kids....though, I think part of it was a throwback to his days watching wrestling or something with his brothers. The commercials...meh...though, I find it funny with Raji's dance...if nothing else just reminds me of the NFC title game last year.

Rodgers has definitely overstayed his welcome. America's ready to move on to Tebow. Rodgers should just bow out at this point. Of course, he won't, but he should.

So he did not start doing it at practices and during camps?Ive heard him say it several different ways...he talked about it pretty extensively on his weekly talks with Wilde on 540 ESPN Milwaukee as well. Will have to go back to see what exactly he said on America's game.I think the main point is he came up with it during practices and it got a lot of the guys jazzed up and most found it fun (I may be throwing in parts about the scout team stuff based on the Wilde discussions). Will have to go back through the podcasts and stuff to really find all the information. The gist is that its not just some thing he does and takes seriously either...he has fun with it...and obviously thinks the mocking of it is kind of funny too.

I work for SF and always thought our commercials sucked. I loved the first one then thought dang, why did we go and blow it by duplicating it. Then with this one I'm reaalllly impressed.

It brought up a conversation with my team at work: Will the NFL crackdown on TD or sack celebrations if they are used in marketing opportunity. What if, and I don't know this, SF or any vendor pays said pro athlete for the commercial. No problem, happens all the time. But then they agree that if the player uses the "discount double check" move during the game they will pay him an additional $100k for each game they use the move.

I think SF may have stumbled into potential unchartered marketing, even if they aren't taking advantage of it. I'd have to think the NFL or NBA would crack down hard on that type of thing (of course not the whores at NASCAR).

I can see it now. LT's one hand thing is his move that means "grabbing the Vizio remote". Etc, etc. I know this, if Rodgers does his move during the Superbowl half the audience is going to associate it with the Discount Double Check. It's an incredibly powerful marketing opportunity that I think will get shut down rather quickly.

That's a very intersting way of looking at it and I feel kinda dumb for not seeing how this sort of thing can be exploited. I see Justin Smith's tattoo as advertising for Anheiser Busch and thought that some athletes might sell ink on their body. I like this concept though. Except I'm scared of Viagra paying someone to do a vertival discount double check.

Maybe I quoted the wrong post of yours. I don;t remember exactly what he said but what he state had nothing to do with his childhood and his brothers.

I don't believe he ever said it has nothing to do with them.I have heard him mention they would do different things growing up...the Belt came from practices, but I have heard him mention his brothers before as far as why he came up with the belt over something else to use in practice.

Pretending to put on a belt is a dance? I guess I have to update my definition of dancing.

It is pretty funny.

I don't get why the fat cheese head guy is always outside of the store/office. Hes obviously a huge packers fan but doesn't come near Rogers/Raji/Clay. Was he banned from the State Farm building? What did he do to get banned? Is it a restraining order thing? Poor guy.

He's a notoriously bad driver and is always having to come in to file claims. Just always happens to be when the Packers players are there as well. He's a horrible driver, but has impecable timing.

Yes. He is actually a Rodgers stalker and by court order is not supposed to get within 25 feet of him.

The fat cheese head guy is "us," "Joe Fan," whatever you want to call it. On the outside looking like an idiot. Stupid, simple-minded and little more than comic relief as a tag in someone else's message.Yes, I'm over-analyzing, but I feel like companies often portray the "regular fan" as a dolt who doesn't know anything and spends his entire, pathetic life trying to share a second of glory with their gods-- professional athletes. Beer commercials do this all the time.

I always assumed the guys only purpose was for people who did not know who Rogers was. I have no idea why they still use him. He offers no value.

Loved the Michael Boley version, standing over Rodgers' crushed body after a devastating sack and putting on his belt.
