Given the state of the AFC East, who gets more wins in the regular season this year: New England . . . or Miami, Buffalo, and the Jets combined?

Much tougher choice than it should be - I can see the Dolphins winning up to 9-10 games (and that's far from a given) but it's very possible the Bills and Jets can't get 4 wins between them.

I took the field, just because it's the "smarter" play.

Hilarious question, but sadly it is a legitimate one.

As a Miami homer I am committing to 7 wins.  8 is a possibility and 9 is the stretch goal.  Assume 7.  I think Buffalo is about a 4 win team, and the Jets are a 2 win team (one vs Buff, and 1 vs Miami).  Pats get at least 13 for the push.  With some good health they should get 14 maybe 15.  I bet on the field in the poll, but now that I think about it logically I am second guessing my vote.

My thoughts as well. I think the Pats floor for wins this season is probably 12. I could see the Phins winning 7, Bills getting 4, and the Jets getting 2. So that gives those 3, 13 wins. It'll be close.

The Patriots accomplished this once already in 2007. 16 wins vs. 12 wins for the rest of the division. None of the other years in the TB/BB era were particularly close. What makes it tough is "the field" automatically will get 6 wins because they have to play each other (unless there's a tie). I suppose a case could be made that could be canceled out by NE winning 6 games against their divisional foes. If that were the case, NE would need to get more wins in 10 remaining games than the rest of the division would in 30 games.

I don't think it is a slam dunk the Pats go 6-0 in the division (they don't play well @MIA). The Pats also have some tough non-divisional games (KCC, @NOS, HOU, CAR, @TBB, ATL, LAC, @DEN, OAK in Mexico, @PIT). Probably 5-1 in the division and 8-2 outside the division . . . so 13-14 wins. Call it 14. Not sure if the rest of the division is bad enough to go 8-22 outside the division.

Read an article yesterday said the only reason Buff or NYJ gets a win this year is cause they play each other. Sadly, I can't entirely dismiss that.
