most ridiculous ticket you've ever gotten (1 Viewer)

So I got a ticket today for obstruction of view because I had my dead dogs collar hanging from my rear view mirror. What else ya got?

My friends and I got tickets for open alcohol in public while drinking in the common patio area of my apartment building. Bored, power-tripping cops. Got the tickets all dropped within 24 hours, but it was absurd they were issued in the first place.

A buddy of mine was pulled over once while leaving a 7-11. Apparently the 7-11 was being staked out for shady dealings (which my buddy knew nothing about) and the cop told him that he was going to search his car. After tearing apart the car and finding nothing, the cop gave him a ticket for having a weapon in his car. The weapon you ask? A tire iron that wasn't in his trunk. The cop said he was obviously using it as a weapon since it was tucked under the driver's side seat and not the trunk. IIRC, it was a $200 ticket too.

Yeah a buddy of mine got a ticket for drinking a beer at the beach. It was only after the cops left that he realized he hadn't actually opened the beer yet.

Why did he let the cop search his car?

Well over a decade ago, I got a ticket for a 61 in a 55. They raised the limit to 60 within a year of that ticket.

That stretch of I-94 is now has a 70 MPH speed limit, I believe.

I feel like he just gave a young kid a ticket because he knew I wouldn't fight it. I didn't. Didn't have the time nor the patience. Wish I would have though.

Didn't get a ticket, but a policeman stopped one time when driving from Green Bay to DC and we were pulled over quickly to let boys go #1 by the side of the road. The boys were 3 and 4, and at least the little guy was in training diapers. We wanted them to go regularly instead of in the diapers whenever possible. The cop said that there were places to stop to go at an exit in a couple miles, but we didn't know that.

As a true parent, I did take a pic of them performing, so I would be able to show dates later in life!! They were behind our van so it would have been hard to see them from the road, especially on a highway going 65 or so.

Got a warning (actually issued a warning ticket, not just verbal) for not signing my registration card. Who the f knew you had to sign that damn thing?!

City of Chicago. Having a truck.
Friend of mine got that ticket. Ridiculous that this is an offense (and only in some neighborhoods in the city!). You can have a massive SUV parked on the street, but not a pickup truck.
Yup. The ordinance, as far as I can tell, is meant to keep people from parking cabs and other commercial use vehicles in residential areas to help with parking issues. The area that I lived then never had an issue with parking. It did not matter that the truck was a personal vehicle parked in front of my condo building- because I did not have a sticker from my alderman, I got a ticket for having a truck.

I may not have liked them when I got them...but every ticket I've ever gotten has been justified.

The only one that was close was when I was pulled over and the cop asked if my license plate lights had a blue tint to them...They didn't and were white LED's. He looked closer, agreed, and let me go on my way.

Parking on a curb on the opposite side of the street. Suburban neighborhood, no other cars on the street. I'm just glad that cop was there to extinguish a potentially violently situation with my car facing the wrong way and all.

He was a scared 18 year old kid,h e thought he had to. 20+ years later it still bugs him.

Got a ticket for a bad brake light in the parking lot of the auto parts store where I was buying the light. Gave the cop #### and told him it would be fixed before I left the parking lot. Fixed it. Went down the the police station to have my fix it ticket signed off. Complained about the cop being a ####, so the cop that signed my fix it ticket lit me up as I was leaving and cited me for not using my blinker... in the police station parking lot.

It should. Kid should have paid more attention in Government/Civics class.

I got a ticket for not wearing my seat belt. I told the cop (actually California Highway Patrol) "I am sure you don't hear this often but thank you. I have not been wearing my sealt belt much lately and this will help me make sure I do." He was stunned.

I was pulled over around midnight leaving a shopping plaza by taking an illegal left turn. The road is a 4 lane, generally busy road, but at midnight, there was one set of visible headlights about 1/4 mile away. Turns out that was the cop.

Pulls me over, asks me if I've been drinking ( leaving a BW3 after 2 rounds ), but it's late so he has me step out for a field test, which I pass easily. While waiting on the cop, I lit a cigarette. He returns and asks me to put it out, so I drop it to the ground. He has me get back in the car and returns to his.

He comes back a few minutes later and tells me " I'm giving you a warning for the illegal left turn. However, I have to give you a ticket for littering."

$400 ticket for littering that couldn't be fought or dismissed by taking a driver course.

Thanks, officer!

The circumstances of your ticket suck, but I have to laugh a little.

Why is it that smokers seem to think that cigarette butts don't count as litter? I don't think you'd have felt as wronged if you blew your nose, and just threw the tissue on the ground, but that's basically what you did.

I come to a 4 way intersection with a stoplight. There is a multicar accident in the middle of it, fender bender with what appeared to be no real injuries or anything. Due to the accident things are getting very congested, and to not add to it I turned the only way I could which was to the right. I get pulled over half a block away for illegally making a right hand turn between 5-7 PM.

Doing 54 in a school zone. All the kids were already in school. Stupid power tripping cop.
slow down moron
The elementary school starts at 8:30am. It was 8:45 and there aren't really any kids outside at that time. They think I'm going to do 20 mph when I have to drive by there a few times during the day for the several hours kids are inside the whole time? It's ridiculous and why I posted it here.

Why do you seem so angry about this? If you don't think it's ridiculous, then fine, but why so over the top? And it's not as if I didn't pay for the ticket.

He didn't want to get beat or killed?

I got a ticket for not having a front license plate on my car while I was in college. I spoke with the cop who wrote the initial ticket and explained that it was a classic car with the original plates and I didn't have the front one (was stretching the truth, as it was at my parents house 250 miles away). She told me to just go to the DMV and get new plates, which was not even an option as far as I'm concerned. $75 was the fine if I chose not to fix and $25 if I fix it within 21 days. I called my parents and had them mail me the front plate. Within the next week, before the front plate could even arrive, I get 3 more tickets for the same thing.

I put the front plate on, go the the police station to have them sign off on everything and pay my fine. They sign off on the extra 3 tickets and say that they should not have given me the extra tickets and I don't need to pay for all of them. Fast forward a month and I get a notice from the city that I need to pay over $800. I believe the breakdown in what I owed was $75 for each ticket plus a $200 late fee per ticket. After hours on the phone talking with everyone including supervisors, their conclusion was that I only fixed one of the tickets, and not all 4, and they I would have needed to pay the $25 fine when the police station signed off on my tickets. The amount I "owed" climbed to over $2000 and got sent to collections. Somehow it was showing up on my credit so I negotiated to have it removed from my credit for $75 since I was planning on buying a house. Total pain in the add

got pulled over for wearing headphones (in the 80s) in CA. told the cop I honestly had no idea that was against the law, but that it made complete sense. didn't give me the ticket, and I never wore headphones driving again.

True enough. He could have had me pick it up, which would have removed the litter, but instead he opted to fine me and leave the litter. Not sure that was the best outcome.

Had a similar situation. Rolling down the highway doing 59 in a 55 MPH zone. Cop pulls me over. Asks me if I knew how fast I was going. I say I couldn't have been doing more than 3 MPH over the limit. He says, "Well, that's speeding, isn't it?". Idiot cash play. Ended up giving me a ticket for a seat belt infraction (which I was wearing) but deciding agreeing to that was better than getting a speeding ticket.

x2 - There are 3 places you just don't speed or drive like a maniac

1 - School zones.

2 - The road your place of employment is on

3 - your own neighborhood.

A cop told me once it was illegal to run both the headlights and fog lights at the same time. I could only run one or the other. Not sure if it was BS all I know is it was impossible to run just the fog lights in this car. They would only work with the headlights on as well.

Huh? Why should I get a school zone ticket when the kids are in school and not walking outside it? If he wants to ticket me for going 54 in a 35, that's fine, but the 54 in a 20 was a heckuva lot more and just plain ridiculous when no kids were in sight. And you think I'm oblivious?

Its not usually a good idea to give a cop a hard time. I was driving down a local road and some cop was parked in the middle of the street giving some young local kids lip. I was about 18 y.o. at the time and didn't want to wait around and thought him giving them lip was stupid. I start reving my engine to get him to move. I made quite a bit of noise too as my muffler had popped a hole. He let me by and a block later pulled me over and gave me a ticket for the noise. Yep. Not a good idea to give a cop a hard time.

I used to drive by a speed trap every day on my way back to the office from lunch. You'd go over this little hill, then there was a long downhill straightaway and the cop was at the bottom of the hill almost every day, hidden behind some brush. I'd check my speed at the top of the hill and just coast, never going over 45 which was the speed limit. Piece of #### arrogant cocksmoking pig said I was doing 64. I had to go to court in Dekalb county to fight it, and sit there with all kinds of filthy degenerates all day waiting to get called. They bumped it down to a smaller fine with no points off my license but it pisses me off to this day (obviously). No way I was even doing 47mph.

59 in a 55 coming home late from my girlfriend's house. I think the officer thought he had a drunk driver or was jealous because he could smell my fingers though the open window.
