I am Commish of a 12 team league and an odd trade went through yesterday.

Andre Johnson for Culter and Felix Jones

So with 30 minutes it was vetoed then I realized in another league where the same owners also have teams they traded:

Megatron for Meachem?

In there mind it was Andre Johnson and Meachem for Megatron, culter and Felix Jones.

Everything was Vetoed and put back the way it was but I am getting requests to suspend them for a game.

Do you think anything else should be done?

By the way they have posted that we should just deal with it and they are mad it didn't go through. They don't see anything wrong with it.

Obviously you can't package trades across two leagues. Make sure the owners involved understand this and if the issue persists deal with them. If you haven't had trouble with them in the past you might chalk it up to them simply not understanding why it's not allowed. But if they continue to raise a stink I'd take that as a sign that they are not interested in a level playing field and take steps to remove them next season if not sooner.

Thanks Wadsworth. That is what I am thinking but I am getting a bit of pressure to either suspend them for a game or put the idea that they don't get to start any players this week to a vote. I feel like that is too harsh.

I don't really have a problem with Andre for Cutler and Felix..but the other one is crazy. An injured player who may not play for the next three weeks at least, for an improving RB and a decent QB.

I would allow that trade and veto the one in the other league. That's what they get for screwing around.

They're either very dumb, or believe everyone else in your league is very dumb and will beleive their BS. No disciplines necessary just put it on record that the two leagues are seperate (which of course shouldn't really be necessay).

Sure do,We use a Yahoo league and in years past the Waivers would clear at like 3:00 AM a couple of the guys would set an alarm at like 2:30 and they found out that if a player was available no one had a waiver on them if they weren't available then they would put a waiver pick on them. It was a way to save there waivers. Seemed like a way to cheat the system to me. This is what happens when you get 12 competitive serious guys in a league.

haha man I might have to reconsider the shady definition 'cause I don't exactly do that, but I do check waivers at 12 am PST, when waivers haven't processed yet, but you can see which players have a claim on them, then i just get first picks of the FAs.

After reviewing all the details from yesterday, it has become apparent to me that further action needs to take place. The incident that occurred yesterday was not only illegal but compromised the integrity of two different leagues. These actions have called into question the loyalty and integrity of both “Orange Crush” and “Snufalufgus”. In an effort to uphold the integrity of the league, in the past we have removed and replaced other managers for far less offences. All must know that incidents like this are not taken lightly and there will be consequences for such actions.

With that said I am announcing that “Orange Crush” will be removed as Assistant Commissioner. At this time I will run all operations of the league until further notice. It is yet to be determined if I will appoint another Assistant Commissioner. These events have left a stain on the title that I am not sure can ever be removed.

In addition to this, there is a matter that I would like to propose to the league for vote. Many are calling for “Orange Crush’s” and “Snufalugus’” heads on a platter. While I think this might be a bit extreme I can’t help but feel that the league is looking for me to take further action. With that said, I propose the following item be voted on by all in the league, “I propose that both “Orange Crush” and “Snufalufgus” bench all players for this week’s games and thus serve a one game suspension”.

All must know that actions like these cannot and will not be tolerated in this league.

I am not a fan of giving away free games for a week. If you want to punish them in the win/loss column. I would look more to deducting a set amount of points each week, at least until each of the other teams has had a chance to play them. I would be rather ticked, if those two teams benched their players on a week I wasn't playing them. If you do proceed with that thought, benching the players, at least make the other two teams play each other, so that the win is at least earned. Even that would cause me some grief though.

yeah. I did it this way thinking there is no way enough people will vote for suspension but still make the people who wants there heads happy I did or tryed something.

I could be wrong. 3 for suspension and 2 against so far. There is a new suggestion that we play by NFL rules and they have to bench the players there were involved in the trade.

If you want to penalize the teams involved, tack a "Loss" onto their record without giving away free wins. If there is any ties at the end of the season, that would knock them out.

Have to agree with this. This is a major overreaction as a Commish. And the "stain on the office" stuff. "It's yet to be determined if I will appoint another." Really? You're doing too much.I'm never a veto guy but the two league trade deal thing is a legit concern and something that test whether or not a Commish is worth his salt. Taking a stand on preventing the deals and a quick straightforward notice to the owners and the league that this is not acceptable is all you needed here.

After the season have a vote on whether or not the guilty parties should be booted from the league if they don't have a history of being quality owners. Obviously one guy was Asst Commish so he must have some good will in the league.

Instead of mitigating the damage you've proposed making the situation worse. Poor leadership IMO.

This is a tough spot for a Commish. I understand the desire to satisfy some league members and come up with a harsh punishment to make a big statement. But all of that is not necessary especially if you have an overall good league with good owners.

Pretty easy to see how this happens - two friends that play in the same leagues - probably neither is doing great so one guys says....."I will trade you Megatron in one league if you trade me X in the other"

Gives them a greater rooting interest perhaps but they don't realize that this really is collusory and trades that are based on something besides the actual value in each trade are not in the best interests of the league - Even if the trade is fairly innocuous IF allowed could result in some real damage to league balance happening in a subsequent league where someone could claim there was a precedent allowed

This.The trade IN THE LEAGUE IN THIS THREAD was fine. There's nothing wrong with the [Andre Johnson and Meachem for Megatron, culter and Felix Jones] trade on its own. The other trade looks ridiculous but thats not even in a league that the commissioner here administrates. As far as was written, the commish here read about that other trade, didnt like the looks of it, and further penalized a LEGITIMATE looking trade in his own league. That's horrendous.

Did the owners involved actually SAY that this was a multi-league trade, or is the OP just assuming that's the case? People here are taking the OP's word that this was a multi-league trade. That's very suspect IMO, especially since the trade listed here that the OP's league voted down is perfectly fine on its own merits. I wouldnt assume we are actually getting the whole story here. Especially since the OP has displayed repeated overreaction to the supposed incident.

That may come off hard to the OP, but I'd be much more upset at the comissioner in this case than I would be at the trade itself. Again, the trade looks fine on its own merits, so every move taken after the initial veto is already going overboard.

I liked the trade that got me andre johnson, it helped him with cutler and felix jones. he liked the trade that got him megatron in camdenton. But no offense to any one, I dont feel like being lectured. You all got your way and the trades were stopped. But for the record, Ive gotten alot of lopp sided trade offers where people are offering injured WR's on IR with a throw in WR for megatron, so dont preach to me on fairness and even trades and then throw me crap offers like that. Ive been offered moreno for dez bryant and another RB. people throw out any trade offer they want hoping somebody would bite. Thats fantasy football. Deal with it.

Cool. That's collusion. My take on it would be to point out what collusion is to everyone. The trades were already halted so no harm done. The owner apparently doesnt understand what collusion is, or just doesnt care. It helps if you have this defined in your rules. I have this for my leagues: "I also reserve the right to override any trades between owners that are indicative of collusion between the two parties. 'Stacking' a team with stud players is not allowed. Trades must always be on the level and must always take place in one transaction."In case you have to discipline or kick someone out of a league, you dont want to give anyone a free win. Take the average score of all teams for the week, not including the team that has no opponent. Use that as the score for his opponent in head to head matchups until you hit the playoffs.

If you are going to penalize them, I would suggest you choose something that affects their team but not others in the league. Some potential examples:

* Both teams take a loss this week. Their scheduled opponents play against the league average (not including the two penalized teams).

* Loss of a draft pick next year.

* Loss of trading privileges for the rest of the year.

* Loss of a roster spot for the rest of the year.

Ok, Nice to know I didn't overact... that much. We had a vote and 6 coaches said no suspension so as far as I am concerned this issue has been handled. Each coach has a warning. Thanks again for lettig me know how you felt on the issue.

For the future just put a rule in place "that all trades shall involve only players from the teams' respective rosters and shall not contain any considerations from outside of this league (i.e. monetary payments, bartered services, favors, trade considerations in other league, etc.)

That may well affect others in the league. The league average may be higher than what a majority of the teams score. One of these teams may be below average. Etc... Suppose the top three teams all obliterate the old one week scoring record; why should that harm people not playing those teams?Anything screwing around with actual matchups is a huge mistake IMO.
