Musa Smith (1 Viewer)

I was just listening to espn and they said that they think Lewis will be cut do to his 5+ million dollar cap hit, so that should open the door for Musa Smith to resign with the Ravens, Im actually hoping Musa signs somewhere else actually, Baltimore has an average oline and Ogden's could retire, they'll need to talk him out of it. Green Bay is another thought Musa Smith would be a good fit in GB, they have alot of hole's to fill and would be good for them to get a nice cheap UFA like Smith who could contribute right away, and they can save $$$ and draft picks for oline. This is probably not a very good scenario either as Favre is washed up, and the oline isnt any better.

Your thoughts people?

gmen come to mind, but my gut tells me they are staying out of the free agent market in favor of drafting a back

Yeah that would be a good fit, imo, Smith is one of the more valuable backs right now as he was a third round pick, and is a very cheap prospect to get a hold of and offers alot of return on your investment

Smith has had such a hard time staying healthy, I find it hard to believe that any team would count on him as a starter...?That said, he IS a talent, and I'm stashing him just in case an NFL team proves me wrong...

It seemed like Musa was in line to take over for Jamal after this year. He was all the talk of training camp, then did little in the regular season before getting hurt again.

As someone else said, I doubt he'll get much consideration for a starting role, as was the case with Chester Taylor before him.

Any hope of PJ Daniels doing anything in Baltimore? I know he was not active for any game this year.

This is my thinking too. You never know but I don't think he has a very good chance at being a starting RB next season.

I think that because Musa has been around 4 years (drafted in 2003), many don't realize he is only 24 years old. He's actually younger than Ronnie Brown and Caddy Williams. I really hope he gets a fair shot to start somewhere.

While injuries are a concern, he showed this year he is fully recovered from the broken leg of 2004 and can be productive. He had a 4.25 YPC (but on just 36 carries) and had 22 receptions on 25 targets, which is an exceptional ratio.

what has he done to deserve any consideration? He may get a shot to compete but they may bring in another vet and/or draft a RB. Anderson probably has a better shot at starting at this point. At least he's proven he can be a starting RB.

In fairness to Musa, when has he had the opportunity to prove himself as a starter? The same could've been said of Chester Taylor last offseason...just because they haven't had the chance to start doesn't mean they aren't capable of having success as starting RBs.

Priest Holmes, Chestor Taylor and now Musa Smithdo they let a 3rd RB walk away and start for another team :(

let's hope not :boxing:

Musa Smith should not be mentioned in the same sentence asPriest and Chestah. I don't believe he has what it takes to

carry the load for the Ravens nor will he be granted the opportunity to do so.

To address a number of posts at once:

Musa Smith was injured later in the year this season, so he did have chances to play.

It was a neck injury, unrelated to previous injuries (leg in 04 and 05) that took him out in Week 10 and he was basically done after then.

Read up on him in the Dynasty Watch from October.

What has he done? Well, it's mostly based on observation - he was fast and powerful as a runner in the preseason this year, remarkable given his injuries in the past. He was by far the most impressive back in camp, yet JLewis remained the clear starter and some even questioned if Mike Anderson was ahead of Musa or not.

Musa's skillset showed those who watched closely that he could be a talented RB if given the chance.

As for PJ Daniels - the Ravens still like him but he never played in 2006. He was relegated to the practice squad.

I'd expect the Ravens to bring in another RB or two by camp, either via FA or the draft. PJ Daniels should compete with them for roster spots / playing time.

Baltimore has a very low 1st round pick in 2008,

and Jamal Lewis is due a $5 MIL roster bonus payment.

If they whack out Jamal, and sign Turner,

it will cost them a low 1st and 3rd, but

they will save the $5 MIL and they will also

have a franchise RB which they desperately need.

PJ Daniels ain't the man, nor is Mike Anderson.

Jury is still out on Musa Smith.

I would build my offense around Turner in a heartbeat.

Again, just conjecture on my part, but it makes sense.
