My first and last mock draft (1 Viewer)

Note: I think there will be 1 or 2 trades at the bottom of the 1st rounds for teams wanting to get qb's (I will be surprised if Dallas doesn't move their 2nd pick to trade down), but I'm not including any trades in the mock.

1. Miami: Jake Long

2. Rams: Chris Long -- Word is that the personell dept. wants Long, while the coaches like Dorsey. The coaches rarely get their guy in these situations

3. Falcons: Glenn Dorsey -- ATL get the top player on their board

4. Raiders: Darren McFadden -- The reason the Jets were making inquiries about moving up to #2 is because they know Oakland is going to take McFadden

5. Chiefs: Ryan Clady -- The previous 4 picks are pretty much etched in stone, imo. This is where things get interesting. While Gholston, Ryan, and Ellis are all tempting here, I think KC has to go oline. If Baltimore is willing to trade up to grab Ryan (I don't think they are), KC would be more than willing to drop down to 8 and take Clady there.

6. Jets: Matt Ryan -- He's the guy they want more than anyone not nicknamed DMac.

7. Patriots: Vernon Gholston -- Ferocious pass rusher is perfect fit for NE defense.

8. Ravens: Sedrick Ellis -- With Ryan off the board, the Ravens will take the BAP, Ellis, even though it's not a need. There are rumors that the Ravens have McKelvin rated higher than Ellis, but I'm not buying it. I actually like Ellis a little more than Dorsey.

9. Bengals: Keith Rivers -- Disappointed Ellis didn't fall to them. Cincy's lb play was probably the worst in the league last year.

10. Saints: Leodis McKelvin -- Top rated cb on the board will be an immediate upgrade for a horrible secondary.

11. Bills: Devin Thomas -- #1 wr on the Bills board, and they've shown in the past they'll take a player a little high to fill a need.

12. Broncos: Chris Williams -- Rb is deep enough they can get 1 or 2 quality ones later. Oline is a huge need for Denver, and Cutler will once again have Williams protecting his blindside.

13. Panthers: Derrick Harvey -- Mike Rucker just retired and Harvey is a solid replacement. If they don't take Harvey, it will be either Otah or Albert, imo.

14. Bears: Jeff Otah -- Chicago is desperate for help on the oline, and Otah is a classic mauler that should start for them at RT immediately.

15. Lions: Rashard Mendenhall -- Reportedly Detroit loves Harvey and will take him if he's there. Since he's not, I see them going with the top ranked rb available. If they pass on Mendenhall, don't be shocked to see them reach for Mayo, lol.

16. Cardinals: Rodgers-Cromartie -- Not happy about missing out on Mendenhall. Arizona needs a corner and takes the top remaining one on their board.

17. Chiefs: Branden Albert -- Some mocks have him going at #5 to the Chiefs. KC is ecstatic he's still here.

18. Texans: Jonathon Stewart -- It's either him or Jenkins here, imo.

19. Philly: Mike Jenkins -- Philly is notorious for not reaching for players in postions of need, so no wr here. Could easily see them trading up to grab Albert too.

20. Tampa Bay: Aquib Talib -- Bucs need a corner.

21. Redskins: Phillip Merling -- If they take Kelley over Merling here, Skins fans will burn down the Capitol Building.

22. Dallas: Felix Jones -- I hate making this pick here, but if things fall the way I have them mocked, this is a nightmare scenario for Dallas, as all the top cb's on their board are gone, and no safety is good enough to take this high. Look for them to try and trade down.

23. Pittsburgh: Gosder Cherilus -- Steelers need to rebuild oline.

24. Titans: Limas Sweed -- Titans desperate for wr's and Young played with Sweed at UT.

25. Seattle: Lawerence Jackson -- Most underrated dlineman in the draft, imo. They can grab a te/wr in the 2nd.

26. Jags: Jered Mayo -- BAP. I'm sure they will be looking to trade down here.

27. San Diego: Kentwan Balmer -- BAP

28. Dallas: Brandon Flowers -- I see the Cowboys trading down here in reality. If not, they reach for Flowers or take one of the safeties Phillips/T. Johnson

29. San Francisco: Desean Jackson -- Rumor has it they love him.

30. Green Bay: Antoine Cason -- The Pack needs youth at cb.

31. NYG: Kenny Phillips -- I've heard Spags loves his potential, and he fills a need.

On a less critical note, I expect this scenario to play out. Dallas is clearly targeting corners and RBs, and I think the top ones all fall before 22. But, I don't expect them to reach for Jones like so many mockers. I expect them to move up or down or both with both picks to land an obvious target at RB or corner. They have the firepower and there's no reason to settle for Felix here unless they really want him, which I suppose could be the case. They could struggle to move up, which would be unusual and just move down. I understand they grade 21 players with 1st round grades. That means someone they grade that high at some position will most likely be available opening up a bpa scenario that I would approve of.

I expect Dallas to be very active. Wouldn't be surprised to see them move up from their first pick, and then move down with their second 1st if they're able to keep it. The only way they stay put at both spots in the 1st round is if they get 2 out of the 21 players. It also wouldn't shock me to see Stewart fall to Dallas at 22 (which I would hate being a skins fan).I also expect Philly to be active. I think there's at least a 50% chance to trade up to land one of the olinemen.

Ryan to the Jets???
Not that far fetched.Pennington is almost done, and I think I'm in the majority when I say Kellen Clemensis not the savior for the NYJ franchise.
:unsure:Ryan will be the top player on the Jets board at this spot. Who else are they going to take, Gholston? Maybe, as I don't know where they have him on their board. Personally I'm not sure VG is even a top 10 player in the draft. I know some teams have him ranked in the teens. I don't think Ellis is a realistic option since they acquired Kris Jenkins and paid him a ton of $$$.Everything I've seen points to the Jets being very high on Ryan. I think the Jets have 2 realistic targets with their pick: McFadden and Ryan. Even if the Rams pass on Chris Long, there's no way he gets by KC, so he's not going to be an option. The bottom line is taking Ryan at #6 is their best move if McFadden is off the board. They get the franchise qb they need, who is also the BAP, and as a bonus they cripple the Pats chances of trading down from #7 with Ryan gone. The Jets could then trade up to the bottom of the 1st round to get a pass rusher like Quentin Groves (who I really wanted to include in the 1st round, but I just couldn't find a spot to put him), or sit tight and grad someone like Avril.

Count me as one who will be shocked if the Patriots draft (with intention to keep) Vernon Gholston.

I keep thinking about this, but never saying it. Is there any chance in a frozen over hell that the Rams take Ryan? Bulger is 31 and coming off some big injuries, Trent Green may or may not be permanently brain damaged, and Brock Berlin I don't know anything about.

I don't think so. Their HC is fighting for his coaching life right now, and drafting a qb isn't going to help him at all in the short term. I think it's going to be Long or Dorsey, or they trade down.

After a night to sleep on it, I think the biggest regret I have wrt my mock is having the Pats take Gholston instead of Ellis. Second biggest regret is not having the Lions pick Mayo.

I heard Pat Kirwan (i think), talking about this. Not the rams and ryan, but a coach in trouble drafting a young QB high to justify keeping him and thus hoping to get the return on investment.
